AMAZING NEWS: Blockbusters....

Had its day and again failed to actually respond to changing market conditions. I passed one last week, half of the lights were blown, and it looked seedy.

Wait so now blockbusters has gone?

or did they go weeks/months ago....Ive payed no attention to blockbusters since the 90's....

More information in the OP would be useful.

More jobs gone :( It is a shame they didn't move with the times but digital downloads and netflix/lovefilm have killed off Blockbusters. Blockbusters killed off the local VHS/Beta rental shops, so guess it is Karma working.

There won't be anything left at this rate.

Alarmingly this is very true. With all these stores going under, all of a sudden there becomes a lack of appeal to go out shopping.. this will have a knock effect on all stores to a degree.

I like blockbuster and i'm still (was) a die hard visitor. I quite like looking around when I'm in town on a Saturday morning and you get some good deals. Obviously this is their undoing.

What alarming about all this, that businesses rised out from the ashes of the last retail recession/slump. I can't see this happening this time because people have turned to the net. The early 90s didn't have that as an alternative.. so yes, retail is dying.

No idea how they even exist still. Even if you're not internet savvy you can buy a decent DVD for £2-3 in Asda etc nowadays anyway.

The only way I'm shocked is that it's 2013.

Is 4000 employees classed as a major company these days? I'm getting used to being a part of companies that have hell of a lot more than that tbh!

No loss though really, they were always going to suffer from the rise of downloadable / streaming services
