Which retail store going be next to go ??

I'm going to guess random furniture company. There has to be one of them that can't shift enough Sofas on credit.

I like Thorntons. I felt the need to share this. I hope they don't go under as I like some of their chocolate.

I think DSG might pull all its highstreet stores, but I'm not sure they will go under as a group.

The next phase is to get rid of pcworld and bring it all under the Curry's brand (last time I was there that was the case). I think they are safe for now, as their one of their major competitors is now out of the game (comet). Although the next battle is against the supermarkets, and I'll put my money on them (supermarkets) to come out on top.

Was a whole end of isle full of Thorntons xmas choc boxes in the Tesco I was in this lunch time, bargain reduced to £16 ea. The choc will live on as a name even if the store doesn't.

They don't need shops to sell the chocolate though.

I know  but I don't want them to go under, I also like the shops as I can buy a toffee box and then walk around eating it for the rest of the day while I do my other shopping.

Has to be waterstones hasnt it? Overpriced books cant be a good business to be in with Amazon selling books for much less + kindle e.t.c.

Funny thing that as I went in there the other day was going to buy Lord of the Rings paperback for £20 instead I bought the 50th anniversary Hardback edition for £22 off of Amazon.

Thank god I'm not the only one who does this. I must admitt they're looking bad but arent they going through a stage of shutting loads of stores right now as in some instances they have 2 on the same street?

I suspect wh smiths too and quite possibly names like millets and blacks as well. I was going to say jjb but it seems they've already copped it and are shutting up shop with sports direct saving a few stores.

BHS or Argos.

Homebase, PCWorld, Optical Express (not their laser clinics), all look unsustainable.

Homebase/Argos are part of home retail and have masses of cash and a pretty solid 5 year plan for weathering the economy so they are very unlikely to be going anywhere soon - tho you never know but it looks pretty unlikely.

PC World/DSG have been going through major restructuring over the last few years behind the scenes - I can see them changing a lot and probably closing/consolidating quite a few stores but suspect they will survive awhile yet.

You can see them doing that? They've been doing and already done that quite a bit.

Loads of the stores are now "Currys PC World"
