Retro console and games thread

Brand New xbox first gen only opened to check contents.

Not hundred percent sure why I bought this but seemed like a good idea at the time.

Nice, how much that set you back if you don't mind me asking and where from? :) Was looking to purchase one myself! (Although not brand new boxed etc xD, that'd just be a bonus!)

Am really tempted to purchase a lot of consoles I missed out on and for some reason missing, don't know where my original Xbox went :<

Well my copy of Streets of Rage 3 turned up. Obviously it was a fake reproduction but given how it was only a tenner I don't mind as it allows me to play the game properly... On a whacking great big CRT TV :D Would love to burn a cart of the English translated Bare Kunckle 3 as its better but still for a tenner I'm happy with this:

:D

How do you know whether the cart is fake or not mate?

Well got stuck in to Goldeneye last night on the N64, great fun and tbh I got used to the 42" screen pretty quickly. Think the main thing was I got Farcry 3 for my PS3 and had been playing that all week... :D

Didn't No Mercy have a problem with saving?

Yeah. There is apparently a fixed NTSC version, but it seems impossible/hard to find, with some even doubting it exists. I'm only going to be playing the multiplayer, so not too bothered. If I ever come across a confirmed fixed one, that isn't too expensive, then I might change.

Fixed PAL is easier to find, but has no blood. Either intentionally or another bug.

Got a couple of bits. I'd never seen a Neogeo cart before I got one. I knew they were big but I was still surprised when it arrived!

I know true collectors won't like the multi-cart but it will keep me going for some time while I build up a collection.

I used to love No Mercy I picked up a ntsc copy about a year ago, I might have to hook up my n64 this weekend.

So I emailed the seller of that Streets of Rage 3 cart subtly hinting that they were reproductions and would they be able to "source" any other games. As long as its an original game (sadly they don't do fan translations) they'll put it up on the store. So I've just got Panorama Cotton for £11! :D I know this is useless for collectors but for people like me that just want to play the game on real hardware it's awesome being able to get games this cheap!

Cart looks new despite being unboxed, the sticker isn't fantastic quality and I popped it open to find it didn't have SEGA mask ROMs in it. As I say I'm totally not bothered as it works 100% and its a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a proper cart. You can ask the seller for any game and they'll find it for you.

Any chance of trusting me the sellers details please? Few bits I'd be interested in :)

Thx Rich.

Picked up an Atari STe and monitor, an Atari STfm and about 20 boxed games yesterday - £20.

The STe works okay, the STfm seems to have a dud disc drive.

Being in the Amiga camp back in the day, I'm a little unclear on what drive I need - is it as simple as buying a replacement and plugging it in or is there something I need to do with software as well?

Trying to get my hands on this arcade PCB

It's on Jamma the next two in the series were released for the MVS. A port came to the Snes so some of you may have played it on that or in the arcade. There is a good chance I'll get it. As I believe I was the first person to contact the person selling it.:D
