iPad Mini...

You won't find the screen to be an issue in general use. The retina screen would be a nice upgrade, but it's not going to suddenly make the regular mini screen rubbish.

Plus, there are no guarantees about when it will be upgraded anyway. The current demand is absolutely phenomenal, they won't be in a rush to launch a new model.

Damn you why can I see myself buying one now lol

Just bought this for the Mini, never thought about a case before I purchased so hopefully this is ok, doesn't look intrusive and transparent which I wanted plus I can still use a smart cover.

Speaking of Smart Covers, is there anything wrong with getting a cheap knock off from the bay? Its just magnets and a cover right, nothing else is there? (besides £35 price tag from Apple).

It won't be of the same quality or likely have the longevity. But hey if you wan't to cover your new device in cheap knock off stuff. Go ahead :)

People who have just the WiFi version have you been in situations where you would have preferred the device to have GPS?

Only asking as the Wifi only has no GPS as only the Wifi/3G ones have GPS and not sure if its worth spending the extra £70 for a feature I may or may not use, as if I need to be online with it will just do that through hotspot on my iphone

Had my mini for a week and I have to say I am liking it much more than I thought I would. It is the first device that feels quite futuristic when carrying it round the house. It is so thin and light it just feels great in the hand.

I am a bit fussy with my tech and I resisted at launch due to the lack of the retina display and A6 SoC. Like others have said you do notice the resolution at first but it has not impacted on my usage as much as I thought. Reading magazines is fine and no problem at all for social media and web viewing.

Performance is OK but every now and again the device slows down and it does get a little frustrating when you are wanting to flip quickly between apps. It would have been great to have the A6 in a device like this. Web pages reloading frequently when multiple tabs are open due to the 512Mb really is not on in my opinion.

Looking forward to future iPad mini models. I don't think we will get a retina, A6/7 mini until 2014 due to the technical challenges required to get the required thickness and battery life. Although Sharp's IGZO screen technology could help speed up the time to market for a retina mini. I am certainly looking forward to using one though :)

I want one mostly for GW Digital Codex's and PDF of army lists along with web browsing at lunch, as when home in the evening often on my desktop

Now obviously this is just me (and Fox...) but is iTunes not the most useless piece of technology known to man. I assumed using a Mac that syncing/copying things to and from an iPad to be a breeze, however how wrong I was... After two hours I've finally (I think...) managed to copy an album and two albums of pictures onto it.

Why do you have to sync it to a folder on your computer when importing images, specifically who do you only seem to be able to sync to one specific album, meaning you have to change your own file system to adhere to the backwards way iTunes seems to need it. I thought I had copied the photos from one album then decided to copy from another album and just succeeded to delete the first albums photos from the device. What am I doing wrong?

Like Fox I love the device for browsing the web and playing games but it seems to be severely broken for anything else (much like OSX, which I've been using as my primary machine for over a year now, great for browsing but convoluted and too complex for much else, but then it is UNIX...) I have to say I found my Android tablet (or more precisely touchpad with Android shoehorned onto it) an much better software system, but poor compared to the iPad in terms of UI/smoothness/app selection and hardware.

So yeah, crux of the question is how can I import an album of images onto my iPad without using the sync option in iTunes which appears to delete any other images you had in another album when you add the new one.

EDIT: Oh, and how do I delete individual images in an album I've imported/synced, without deleting them on the computer they have been synced from?

Had my mini since Christmas Eve and am loving it. Have tried several Android tablets (mostly cheaper end ones I will admit) and it always just felt like a less useful version of my phone. Never really understood the iPhone love, but on a tablet iOS seems right. Got the 3G version on a 12 month contract for £38 per month (includes 2GB data) which I thought was good.

For a case I purchased this when it was £9, and also got this for Christmas.

Both cover the back and have the smart cover off/on feature (the second one is a slightly stiffer front).

So after looking at the full size one and the mini, ended up with wifi mini.

For what I will be using it for the text looks pretty good on both granted the retina is a bit clearer but not enough to worry.

Yes it might get updated in March or it might not, if it does will see if it has any features I want on it, sell this one and get the new one.

So far setting it up so much easier than the Tab 2 7 inch I have.

Guys... I want a new tablet. I'm considering the iPad Mini. I have everything Android at the moment and just want a change.

Is the Mini a good product for playing games and browsing?

Is their any faults I should be aware of?

Cheers

No. It's an EXCELLENT product for playing games and browsing. :D

Is their any known faults with it?

How is it compared to things like the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10?

It's just quite an expensive product and I'm wondering if all in all it'll be worth it... I don't like faults with products and the Nexus 7 had loads!
