Would you volunteer in a US civil war?

Like Orwell or Hemingway did in the Spanish civil war. Or foreign mujahadeen in Chechnya and the like.

Imagine America descended in to a second civil war probably between liberals and conservatives. The anglo-saxon equivalent of the arab spring.

Which side which you join and why? Adventure, fortune, moral reasons?

You would get trained and kitted out and everything, and if your side won you would receive:

  • Full citizenship of the new country
  • War veteren privileges (priority for jobs, discounted loans, etc)
  • The modern equivalent of "40 acres and a mule" i.e. a suburban mansion previously owned by the enemy, and all the cheeseburgers, bibles and SUVs you can handle.
  • A special medal
 
Neither, the nation is a cesspool of mediocrity that i no longer care about.

I would rather enhance our standing with another nation that isnt so deluded.

And tbh, nothing on your list is. Let America sort it out between themselves.

this really

its the most powerful democracy out there and is a country closely aligned with our own values... if some group wanted to say tear up the constitution, impose some other non-democratic regime on the US etc.. and a sizeable number of Americans opposed it (wanted to protect their constitution, democratic system) then I'd certainly be a supporter at least of those Americans tbh...
 
If I was living in Louisiana as I probably would, I'd join the Confederacy, set up a fort in a remote Bayou and live out the rest of my days protecting the fort and going to the pub and church on my boat.

yes... the spoils of war, although it probably depends which side would win, because you might end up with a toyota prius or hipster bicycle.

do you think there would ever be a 'winner' ?

it would just end up like the middle east , there would always be someone who doesnt want to admit losing and end up blowing you up while you sleep 5/10/20 years down the line
