Mega File Sharing

Should we not be a little cautious though. I just worry if people put there 'back-ups' on there and then the site gets pulled etc like mega-upload did.

Or do you think everything will be safe.

Whilst the owners identity does make it slightly more likely, this could happen to any file sharing/storage operation. The simple method to alleviate this fear is to always have a local backup as well on a separate storage device.

Funny that it ends up in a location where the headquarters of many three letter agencies are located.
 
No idea why this is being touted as a big new thing. I've had Wuala for a while now and it does the exact same as Dropbox and Mega combined i.e. It can synch folders with your PC, encrypts everything at the PC end so the host cannot decrypt them (keys are held locally with user) and you can make public links to individual folders for sharing if you want....
 
If Kim Dotcom thinks that this new service is more genuine and no different to the likes of Dropbox, I think the issue the company has is that I can't see anyone using it to store or backup important data.

Why would anyone want to use the new service to protect their data when the former company was involved in a scandal, was shut down, and had piracy issues reported across international news?

Nobody serious is going to choose it over cloud services from Apple, Microsoft, Google and Dropbox.
