I think this is just natural part of the lifecycle of well development/already technically advanced products. Processors these days don't seem to see massive jumps in performance either. The GPU market really seems stagnant, long gone are the days of a doubling in performance every 12-18 months![]()
This is going to be an 18 month cycle then. Not sure if I should hold of or not. Still plodding away on a 4870
If it performs adequately then wait, if not, buy now.
GTX 580; 520mm / 384Bit / 48 ROP's
GTX 680; 294mm / 256Bit / 32 ROP's
GTX 670; 294mm / 256Bit / 32 ROP's
GTX 660TI; 294mm / 192Bit / 24 ROP's
GTX 660; 221mm / 192Bit / 24 ROP's
7970; 365mm / 384Bit / 32 ROP's
7950; 365mm / 384Bit / 32 ROP's
7870; 212mm / 265Bit / 32 ROP's
7850; 212mm / 265Bit / 32 ROP's
As you can see there, while the 79## (Tahiti) are larger than the GTX 680/70/60TI, for some reason the 78## (Pitcairn) is a lot smaller, smaller even than the GTX 660.
Its nearly half the size of Tahiti.
What did you fix?
