*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

The bit where your map stops working was claustrophopic alright....
Then when you leave i was shouting to my girlfriend WHERE DO I GO????!!! hilarious.
Just lost all my good guns and failed to get them back though....

So, the Wii U turned up yesterday only for me to realise I had made a schoolboy error - I don't have any spare HDMI slots in my AV receiver, doh! Is anyone using a component cable on these as I'm getting mixed reports about it doing 1080i/720p over component, which is the most my TV will take anyway. I'm just using an old Wii cable at the moment.

There is a thread on the AVForums where somebody prefers component over HDMI on their system. I tried both and couldn't tell any difference on my Kuro, using a random HDMI cable and the Nintendo Wii component cable.

However, 5.1 lossless surround sound is pretty awesome: if you can find a way to use HDMI, I'd do it. There is no optical on the Wii U (as loads of people are raging about on the same forum).

Oh, one other thing: depending on your telly, you may have different overscan options on different inputs. The Wii U tends to use the whole screen (good IMO) which means if you have undefeatable overscan, some icons etc at the edge of the screen are half missing. A Just Scan, Dot-by-Dot, or similar aspect type is required to get the whole 1080p image on the screen. Note this isn't specific to the Wii U :)

It'll be going into the AV Receiver anyway which will handle the resolution and overscan stuff, and there is no way I can use HDMI - PS3, Xbox, Sky and HTPC are unfortunately more important (and the wiring is all hidden).

Just finished ZombiU what a brillaint release title going to try the one survivor mode and see if I can pull it off.

Beware...Survivor Mode is much harder...most shots and more hits to kill Zombies.

I'm convinced I can do it with one Survivor in Normal Mode...actually I should have, will go back to it after I get bored with Black Ops 2 online, which has been great fun in all honesty. Servers were a tad temprimental last night however.

Recieved £20 worth of vouchers at work...what game to pre-order with them? :p

Ah, the hidden cables are a difficulty. I mention this as i don't think the XBox supports lossless surround so it could be optical only? I've just realised I can permanantly hook mine up through the amp as my Popcorn Hour also is useless to me regarding lossless audio, so I'm going to demote it to optical only.

Resident Evil Revelations is coming to Wii U :D...and the others of course :p

IGN said:
Resident Evil Revelations is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC.

The game will be released in North America on May 21st and in Europe on May 24th. It will be available to be downloaded digitally from those dates, costing €49.99 on PSN and €39.99 Windows PC. Details regarding pricing for Xbox 360 and Wii U will be announced at a later time.

Previously the game was only available on Nintendo 3DS, though reports late last year suggested that it would eventually make its way to other platforms.

The new version of the game will feature high quality HD visuals, as well as "enhanced lighting effects" and an "immersive sound experience". There's even more content in the console version, too, including a "terrifying new enemy", an extra difficulty mode, and several improvements to Raid Mode (new weapons, skill sets, and characters).

The new version will also take advantage of the ResidentEvil.net service. Players can pre-register with the service from January 24.
