Terminator 5

Took the words ... :D

I never quite understood why if sending a Terminator back in time, why they didn't ever know that the machine itself was going to be terminated or at least go back to the same point only learning from the previous try - quick load!!

This is why you have to suspend an extra amount of belief with time travel stories.

T3 felt like it was done for the sake of just having a chick terminator, and T4 was an abomination with the some unforgivable plot holes and horrible creative decisions (e.g. Skynet being humanised into a childish angry face on a screen sort of thing). Hollywood can't let these things die though.

I'd rather see Arnie and Cameron do True Lies 2.

Well I suppose you could say he followed on from T2 and his skin just melted a little..

Personally I really enjoyed Salvation so I hope this isn't a reboot like suggested a few years back, I also hope Bale returns as John Connor

From what I've read Arnie's involvement in this isn't likely to be much more than a cameo like the CGI Arnie in Salvation

Will be interesting to see in which time they base this, to be honest i liked all the of the terminators, apart from 3, but only because of the john connor actor and the story in general was too cheesy compared to 1 and 2. They tried to make it more available to all audiences and in the uk it got a 12 rating which was the problem imo. They should have stuck to making it an 18 and less cheesy. Claire danes was ok and the female terminator was ok, but no where near as hardcore as the t-1000 from 2.

I'd read somewhere that Arnies role might be this - He was captured as a younger man by Skynet and the new T800 model uses his likeness, then we see the current "old" Arnie meet John Connor for a few minute cameo telling his story. - How true that is I've no idea but it's one way that the current Arnie could be in the new film.

DO IT. DO IT NOW!

I'm chuffed to see him back on the big screen and welcome any new movies with him in. The guy is an absolute legend and was a big motivator for myself, whilst growing up.

I think every male at some point in their life has pretended to re-enact the nude arrival scenes, or at least work out to beef up and feel like a real Terminator.

I have other reasons other than the obvious, which you've pointed out. I'm talking about Arnie as a person, not the actor on screen.

I'm the opposite.

I thought T4 was not great.
Sam Worthington's character was the exciting character.
Bale was boring as hell. Bale is great as a disturbed individual (eg druggie, psychopath, anorexic), but as a super hero (which John Connor is, practically), he is extraordinarily dull.

I can't see how T5 can be exciting, even without Bale.
I'll watch it regardless, though, as I love the Terminator franchise.

.

I do agree that he was rather dull in Salvation, in fact, I thought that the film in general was lackluster. That said, I thought Bale played a rather decent Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The T1000 is arguably the most ruthless villain in cinematic history, so it would've been difficult for the TX to compete with his ruthlessness. He looked genuinely evil (very pale skin) and certainly not the blue eyed, blonde Hollywood leading male.

It didnt help that the TX was a good looking woman (tall, blonde, attractive...you know the type). It would've been better if they cast an evil looking, ugly woman in the role. This would've added to the menace.

I felt that he was extraordinarily boring and uncharismatic as Batman, though lets be honest, that is the way Batman from the comic is. I felt that Michael Keaton was the best actor who played Batman. He was very likeable and also looked a little twisted.

Bale is a method actor who does well in serious roles (he has a serious personality, so it makes logical sense).

I'm in the minority though, because the 3 Batman movies he was in, raked in huge piles of cash, so most people liked Bale as Batman.

The whole thing about the TX was full of fail. It was just plain lazy.

Michael Keaton was an ok batman, the only flaw that I found really was that he just seemed a bit too small in stature for the role.

Back on topic.

Ha! I never saw this before... A scene cut from Terminator 3.

Although it's cheesier than a block of cheddar, I think it's awesome! It should have been left in the movie...

Having Arnold play a human character might be interesting, and would allow them to get around the obvious age issue.

Cracks me up that video every time I see it! :D

Regarding Bale, I think he is an excellent actor, love him in pretty much every film. Best Batman/Bruce Wayne as well IMO, he plays a different character in all/most of his films rather than playing the same character like many many A list actors i.e. Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis etc. granted their performances are very good and entertaining. I hope they bring him back for his role as John Connor, but I doubt it very much as he doesn't want to do just any standard film especially after the the extremely successful roles that he has had and they'll probably pick someone else anyway, no idea who else they could pick though. The guy that was shown in the second one for the future glimpse looked like a good John Connor! But unfortunately he would look very old as well now :(

I thought it was pretty obvious why we didn't see the future war that we saw in the first 2 films, simply they chose to not go that far ahead, given that there were no plasma/laser weapons, T800 only began production (and Connor said something like "it's worst, they have started the production a lot sooner than what I was told" etc. etc. so it is still very possible for the resistance to completely loose their communication system, majority of the bases and air strips etc. thus we get that real war zone feel that they are just about hanging on. Skynet probably didn't have enough machines at that time to just go all out on them (especially when the resistance were prepared, organised and had air power too so it probably calculated its chances etc.)

Hmm, all this talk has made me want to watch the first 2 again :D
