Hello. This may sound silly but im a little confused. The heating at work has been broke for 2 weeks now and where I work they take forever to get things sorted. The lift has been broke since it was opened (it was a different company before) and this is still not fixed and we have to work deliveries and stock up and down stairs. Im pretty sure it is against health and safety to do this. The heating packed up two weeks ago and it is still not sorted. Also the male toilets have also broke and we have to use the female ones. These were broken over 6 months ago now and nothing has been done.

Im pretty sure I have the right to refuse to go in to work as it is way below 13oC in the warehouse and not much warmer on the shop floor. Im just a little annoyed that they take so long to get things sorted.

This job was a job I had when I was studying my btec national in IT but with the lack of IT jobs available im stilling working there. (also applying for other places). The thing is I don't get over 16 hours a week so im on job seekers allowance so if I lost my job it wouldnt even effect how much I earn't because my JSA would go up (not if I voluntarily left though).

What are your views? Yes it is a rubbish company (a big company) but a rubbish reputation where I live.

Man the #### up.
Buy a set of thermals from your local cheap mountain shop.

I swear some people would have a heart attack if they saw what some of us have to deal with at work

I feel so sorry for you, try working on building sites with minus temps.

Yeah. Its the fact that if I wasn't even working there it wouldn't effect how much I took home a week. I did have another retail job but it was a temp contract so im back on just the one job now which means I have to go on JSA :/

We had to have the doors open in my shop before Christmas. It was chap dangles. Luckily I could go and hide in the ski department, which was a lot warmer.

Its one room but they have 2 cubicles. Usually the men have there own room but the toilet is broke so we can't use it so we share the womens room which has 2 cubicles which they split up but the time being :/

Where the hell do you work? Syria? It sounds like a really bad 80`s sit com.

Yeah I do wonder if I walk through some sort of teleport on the way to work. Main thing is its annoying because im working for nothing basically. It was so good when I had two jobs and wasnt on JSA. Ahh well I can't leave because my JSA won't go up because I voluntarily left. Ile just have to wait till some more work becomes available somewhere else.

Well you have there options, look for a new job, get your self some qualifications and get out of retail ( non retail is worlds better) or put up and deal with It. I bet the aircons knackered so in the summer you'll be sweating Bullocks. But the company probably trying to run the business with minimal overheads hence the time taken for repairs, tell you some rubbish about repairs but never actually doing any

I have qualifications mate I worked hard for them. Merits/distinctions. I did a BTEC National in IT and because that I did a OCR National in business and BTEC First in IT. Struggling to find things to apply for but I managed to apply for 2 IT jobs last week. Just waiting to hear back.

I was outside in minus 3 the other morning.... I should have quit there and then!

Yeah but thats probably more than minimum wage and a propper job. Not a few hours a week which I don't even keep the money really or should I say if I wasn't working there I would still have the same money as I do working there as my JSA would go up.
