Too cold to work?

You seem rather hung up on it not being worth working! If others are complaining of the temperature have a word with the boss as a group perhaps?

Well basically like ive said they can't give me over 16 hours to get me of JSA so whatever I work I have to tell the JSA in which it then comes out of my JSA.

Working cold isn't a prob imo. You can wear an extra layer, work more strenuously etc. It's when it's too hot it becomes a problem. Take a layer off, then what? Can't do much after that without expensive air con which is out of reach of most workers. So yeah, rather too cold than too hot.

I am still trying to work out why some idiots in here are comparing outside working with inside working when it comes to temperatures etc.... Why should an inside worker, where there is legislation in place regarding temperatures etc, have to "MTFU" just because outside workers have to work in cold environments occasionally?

It's like brickies complaining of 30oC heat and the inside workers saying "MTFU, we have to work inside so can't enjoy the weather"....

For the record, I work partly inside and outside.

Call the HSE and complain. They'll send out a standard letter about receiving a complaint regarding breach of welfare regulations and require the company to respond in writing.

This usually gets the desired effect.

But you're working. And whilst you're working you're a hell of a lot more likely to get another job! I also realise you've decided you'd rather just sit on jobseekers than be at that place.

Have you spoken to someone about your C.V before now? It may be worth asking one of the people in the jobcentre to see if you can improve it. (Do the Jobcentre offer this?)

Speak to the management team rather than whine about it and try and find a way of excusing yourself from getting to work.

Don't expect a warehouse to be warm.

If you're having to carry boxes up the stairs then you'll warm up.

If you've spoken to management, and they've done nothing, either look for something else, and find another job, or quit. However, I'd find out first whether or not any repairs have been booked - if they have then why not be pro-active, chase it up on behalf of the management team? Why not deal with the people that can directly affect the situation?

I'm sorry for not being more supportive, but complaining about a few trivial issues like this on a forum is just pointless - unless you just wanted to vent/rant, in which case I totally understand the frustration of needing a rant from time to time.

I know it's not the "dream" job - but you're employed and it'll be easier to find something else when you have more to show for your current situation, and your predicaments aren't exactly a big deal.
