X-Men Day of Future Past (2014)

I have to agree. I didn't think it was terrible just quite boring.

It took a great big steaming **** on the Characters from the comics. it is possibly the worst thing you can possibly do.

First rule of thumb, at least adapt the characters, correctly.

Everything else that followed, which was just a boring, terribly scripted pile of rubbish, was mute in that respect.

X-Men: Days of Future Past could feature original trilogy stars Halle Berry and James Marsden, according to a report.

20th Century Fox is said to be hopeful that the duo will reprise their respective roles of Storm and Cyclops for the X-Men: First Class sequel, MovieWeb understands.

The news follows reports that Hugh Jackman has entered discussions to revisit his role of Wolverine for the film, and confirmation that Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart will play the older incarnations of Magneto and Professor Xavier.

It was been speculated that the actors from the original trilogy will appear in scenes depicting an alternate, dystopian future.

Bryan Singer will return to the director's chair after serving as producer on X-Men: First Class, while actors James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are also on board.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is to hit cinemas in 2014, with production expected to begin early next year.

Very intriguing project this :)

But Halle Berry was useless :(

I thought she (and all the women for that matter) did a good job in the original trilogy, I liked the fact that they didn't portray them as these female fighting machines but rather what they are feeble little women with powers :p

Storm had one of the worst lines going in the first film...."Do you know what happens to a toad when it gets struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else!" So menacing!!!

Looking forward to this, Fassbender has got such an amazing aurora, he has incredible screen presence in all the roles he plays

I think every geek or person that has watched all the xmen and wolverine type films can see flaws, someone mentioned hank appearing as human and of course its not quite cannon and then wolverine came along and threw the word cannon totally out.

It is quite the mess lol

But ignoring Cannon and whats happen and is or not I think days of future past can be quite good its mixing them all up sounds like wolverine will be the main guy... but that is not confirmed only his hinted its longer then a cameo role :)

Its obvious its quite massive, 1st class sorta rebooting it but sorta not perhaps they can add some time travel/bishop case and bring back/alter the xmen universe so it sorta makes sense lol

Bear in mind that what is good or bad is entirely subjective.
For instance, I thought that The Dark Knight was a borefest after the Joker was dealt with. I thought the The Dark Knight Rises was a borefest for the first half of the movie. I know that many would disagree.

my comments below, in pink.

I'm 50/50 on this, Bryan Singer isn't the bees knees, X-men was an okay introduction, it wasn't good really, it had a terrible script and crap action.
agreed

X-2 was a much better film all round.
agreed

X-Men: last stand by Ratner is probably the joint worst comic film for me alongside spider-man 3 and fell for the old trope, bigger and more is better... Awful.
disagree - I thought this movie was pretty good. To say that Spiderman3 is the worst comic movie of all time is little "off". The fight scenes alone (which IMO are unmatched since) score good points for the movie. The problem was that because S1 and S2 were so good, when S3 wasnt fantastic, people felt let down. I will say that this year's Spiderman movie was worse than X3, as was Captain America (which was extremely dated), as well as some of the Batman movies with Val Kilmer and George Clooney. Superman Returns was pretty boring.

X-Men: First Class by Matthew Vaughn (written by himself and Jane Goldman) is probably the best super powered comic film to date, it's almost perfect, from the serious, yet witty script down to the stylised era and cinematography. Brilliant.
disagree. It certainly was a good movie. But it wasnt brilliant. A comic book movie should be "out there". It should be colourful and exciting and impossible to happen in real life. Avengers for me, is the all time best comic book movie and given that this is the highest grossing comic book movie of all time, many would agree with me. It is fast paced and colourful (unlike Nolan's Batman movies), with heaps of charm, "out there" special FX and edge of your seat action.

Now sadly Vaughn has stepped off ...
I feel that you are a Vaughn fan (or perhaps a supporter of British directors) - nothing wrong with that of course. But just because Vaughn is not involved, does not mean a movie will automatically be bad.

Providing the story line is strong (and I do love a good time travel plot), this could become one of the greatest comic book movies of all time. Until it is released, we just won't know.

I for one, am excited for this movie, as I love comic book movies and have pretty much seen them all. For me, X1, X2, X3 rank as one of the best trio of super hero franchise movies. Spiderman 1, 2 and 3 being the other. And I do hope they have plenty of action from Bishop, Cable and an appearance of the NIMROD class of Sentinel.

Clearly we deviate in what we think a comic book film should be like. Avengers was brilliant in that they managed to pull off pulling in half a dozen elements from different franchises, it even has some good action at times, but the best parts wasn't the sum of film, it was the individuals, the over all story for avengers was weak in its scales, the last half hour is basically Transformers footage rehashed.

It fell right in a lovely pocket where everyone could get onboard, and bravo to Disney and Marvel for getting together a bunch of people who realised this. The 2nd film will be far more interesting for me.

Spider-Man 2 was light years ahead of the other super hero attempts, it made the x-men franchise look silly. But number 3 you could tell Raimi's had lost the studio, by the end of the film, he sequenced the action from the viewpoint of a reporter, it was pathetic, it was a film thag crucified the stories of venom and sandman in the same terrible way Wolverine destroyed Deadpool. The Emo peter parker sequence, singing, dancing, horribleness. It was appalling.

Days of Future Past has the potential to be an immensely brilliant film in creativity and casting, I just felt Vaughn has a better style to Singer, his first class had a much better look and feel, the script was far better than any of singer's attempts. These are good grounds. Doesn't mean I'm saying its going to be dreadful, I just felt more confident at that point.

Agree, spiderman 3 was awful IMO! The emo Peter Parker just was laughable and cringe worthy. Venom/Brock was crap, sandman was decent. But the plot was terrible and then the way the Butler of Harry only just told him at the very end didn't make any sense, why not tell him when the death actually happened instead of having Harry becoming obsessed with capturing Spiderman..........

Spiderman 1 and 2 were good (2 being the best IMO), the new spiderman was good I thought apart from stupid scenes like throwing a rugby ball against a goal post and bending it and no one thinks "hey, that is weird" etc.

The only good unique thing about the avengers was that they had every major marvel super hero in one film, the rest was just like any other marvel super hero film, great CGI, basic plot, good cast and entertaining.

X men 1, 2 and 3 were good enough, didn't like x men 1, thought it was the weakest by far, 3 was the best out of them (despite every one dying or loosing their powers), also agree that the script for the first one was very poor. X men the first class was the best out of them all IMO, great character development, good story line and a better plot, much better script etc.

You can't compare Nolan's Batman films to Marvel's super hero films. IMO all 3 of them are superb, do exactly what Nolan intended, to create a film, which was as close to being real as it could in the "real" world, superb cast, superb acting, great script and a great plot for all 3.

You can look at Nolan's films as being to dark, gritty, slow going etc. but I look at marvel films i.e. the avengers as being too colourful, America and all the flags in the background = xxxx yeah! *chant* USA USA USA *chant* :p, action packed, basic plot thus more aimed at kids (still thoroughly enjoyed it for those reasons though, action, entertaining, CGI). Iron man 3 looks like it will be following Nolan's style, very dark, gritty feel to it, which I think is going to make it to be the best Marvel film to date (although I love the Iron man films anyway). Captain America was a terrible Marvel film too.

The very first X-Men film is right up there with the best comic book films of all time, not only that but it's the one that really laid a lot of the ground work for every comic book film since and made the whole genre cool for the first time (previously every effort was very very weak bar the Burton Batman films)

“@BryanSinger: Very excited to welcome #annapaquin, @ellenpage & @shawnrashmore to #XMen #DaysofFuturePast - thank you @BrettRatner for letting them live!”

That's Kitty Pride, Rogue and Iceman for those who can't be arsed to imdb them :p

Hopefully they will give her the other powers i.e. strength and flight as she really was completely pointless in the films. Or at the very least put her to better use!

Sounds like Bryan Singer was having a dig at Brett Ratner (who in my opinion killed the X-men franchise when he took over for X-Men 3).

I actually liked the fact he took a risk and killed* off some characters in Last Stand

*not that any of them were indeed killed off, Xavier we know came back, Cyclops were just never see and Jean Grey will just rise from the ashes being the Phoenix and all :p
