NorthEast UK Folk - Get In Here.

North East minions! I need advice for Saturday. I'm looking to meet a few mates in Newcastle to watch the 6 nations while enjoying a few beers, but my usual haunts don't really spring to mind as good venues for taking in sport. (Namely the Newcastle Arms or The Crown Posada in the city center, or The Tyne Bar and the Cluny in Ouseburn).

I realize South Shields has many fine establishments for such an occasion, but Newcastle is more central for everyone, as a few of the lads are traveling up from deepest, darkest Durham . (And yes, in case you were wondering, they do wave sticks at passing aeroplanes because they frighten and confuse them)

Cheers!

Haha, Hartlepool isn't the best place so I'm in no way allowed to call anywhere else.

You won't get into the regulars without being a special first due to all the funding cuts/budget malarky. The Met are currently the only force which have restricted future intakes to Specials/PCSO's only, but Cleveland are following suit shortly as will the majority of forces.

People in the specials generally sort of know whether they want to join full time or not because they have the experience and have witnessed the bad with the good, whereas Joe Public often has different expectations of the job. I know someone who personally joined, hated the shift work, didn't like the job and left straight away, after having 200k spent on training and uniform etc.
