PC Spec for BF3?

Definitely long over due! :p

Yeah, as said, other people could probably take/replace stuff, I haven't followed any of the latest PC stuff for a while now so not sure what is the best for value etc. I would stick to GB or MSI for MB though, ASUS have terrible customer service.

What case do you currently have?

Current case is a Coolermaster Elite 333U. It really does need replacing now though tbh!

Is this the one to go for then guys? And would it play pretty much anything I throw at it without issue? I don't mind paying the extra for a 2GB card. Which one should I go for?

Cheers

If your not ordering tonight I would wait and see what the "this week only deals" change to in the morning, plus the T1 isn't a bad case for the money but you may want to consider spending abit on one that isn't just sheet metal, plastic and no cable managament :)

I won't be ordering till Thurs-Fri so that may be a good idea. :)

Yeah I can go for a better case aswell and is it worth paying the extra for the 2GB GPU?

Cheers

Yup that is looking good :)

Personally would go with the HIS GPU though, for the 2GB RAM as iirc skyrim loves VRAM, it is also more future proof for the next lot of games and if you did intend to go crossfire later on. Also I would rather get at least 500W PSU, but if ethermaster says that it would be fine then all is good.

EDIT:

On my PC, I have no problems playing the latest games at max settings, although I generally lower some stuff like shadows and turn AA off (due to me using sweetfx instead) in order to get better FPS.

depends what res your playing at, if 1920x1080 then yes it will be worth the extra for the 2Gb card but the performance isn't going to change so that the game is unplayable.

could be that or a RMA that the buyer no longer wants (more then likely wasn't compatiable) or ex display, if you do plan to buy a b grade product give OcUK a ring first and find out the history of the part.

Edit : Ferrari 599 GTO postie in style !

Although if it is only for those 2 games and if you don't spend much time gaming then personally I wouldn't be spending that much either. Comes down to how many games you would be playing and how often each week.

No. most people only play 1 or 2 games at a time and as long as the OP plays games every now and then its fine.

if the OP builds the pc and then doesnt play any games for a month or two then u can say lol but pc's is more then just for gaming.

that extra grunt he has could be useful for way more things then gaming

Good point!

I haven't been into PC gaming for ages though, so there really is lots of titles I want to play. LOADS of games on steam!

I just hope whatever I get specced will be capable of running smoothly on high settings. I would be happy with that. :)

True, but a lot of people often only put time into a few games i.e. BF 3 and skyrim and some might not even touch any other games (I know of a few people who only play COD :o or/and BF 3 or/and WOW)

That last part is true as well but he didn't mention anything but gaming :p I only use my PC for gaming, browsing and films and if I wasn't a "serious" gamer (fluctuates a lot as I don't play many games so sometimes I might only get 5 hours of gaming each week if even that, however, if there are quite a few games out or/and ones which I am replaying then I could spend more than 25 hours playing them each week) then there is no way I would spend £500 whenever the PC would only be used for those 2 other things (a £300 PC would be more than enough). The only things I can think of where you need more performance would be encoding, graphics work etc. which not many people do.
