Really like universe, because its clever subtle dub, the other tracks are too commercial for me.

But your a talent.

I really like Universe. Just because it doesn't have an "epic" drop, doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

I prefer the darker big dropping dubstep. I kind of got more of that from the "Inception FINAL MIX" track for me. How long did it take to get to that level, producing tracks like that? I always have wanted to get into making some tracks, but I always talk myself out of it after playing with software for a few hours as everything seems so Alien. it's like I know what I want to do, but can't actually do it.

Good effort mate, quite a bit better than me :D

What software/setup are you running?

Thanks. I use Reason 5, it's amazing! I don't think thers anything you can't do with it, especialy since Reason 6 has audio recording as well!!! It's quite compicated to strat with but it's well worth sticking to it.

At the moment I'm running it through a Xonar DG which does the job fine because I have studio monitors and a 2.1 speaker set running at the same time which sounds pretty damn good!!!

The computer itself is what is in my signiture.

The track I'm working at the moment is more like Inception, slightly heavier I would say.

I've been making music all my life and started using Reason about 3 years ago. It took me about 3 months to make my first Dubstep track just because I was learning a lot as I was doing it. Universe took me about 2 weeks!!! Smoke screen I actualy wrote in about 2 days, and then the mastering took a day!!! I wish I would have spent more time on it though!

Once you know your way around any software you can produce things fairly quickly (not saying you should, you should probably take as much time as possible!).

I had the same problem as you, I could come up with ideas in my head but I just didn't know how to get them onto the computer!! It took a good year of learning how to use Reason before I could do this, I'm still no expert but most of the things I think of I can get close to on Reason.

If you really want to do it then you have to stick with it and face the fact that the first track you make is most likely going to be rubbish! You wouldn't beleive the amount of crap I have started and just not finished becuase it's so bad!!! Eventualy after trying and trying you will come up with something and it all seems easier from then on! After making Inception I was worried it was just luck that I managed to produce a half decent track but then when I started on the next one it just seemed a lot easier to get a full track together than it did before.

I would say go for it, but don't give up when you realise it's harder than you thought!

Snap on reason 5 :D

I actually have a heavy dubstep release tonight on HD. Can I whack it in this thread once it's uploaded? It'll be available for free download too :)

Let me know what you think guys :)

That drum fill is amazing, as is the tempo?.pattern changes at the end, love it.

Rhyswh, sounds very good. What softsynths do you use? Did you use any mastering plugins? Even the vinyl white noise at the end of Universe sounds pleasurable.

Thanks. I use Reason so I make my own sounds, pretty much everything I make is in Thor. Again the mastering is done in Reason, I usualy choose a pre-set mastering patch and change it to my liking. The noise at the end is just white noise mixed in with some static noise!!

Have you tried using 3 thors in one combi? Dear god, the sounds you can make! Especially with a bit of brickwalling :)

They all sound like commercial brostep. It's a no from me. For all of them.

Even my track? :p

If you think that's brostep, then lol :D it's the most minimalistic (well, not really but you know what I mean) style I could think up. While being dark. If that's brostep then dear god

I was referring to the OPs tracks. Yours isn't far from brostep with that obnoxious synth over the top of everything.
