Obscure cars that are kinda cool

VW Corrado as well is just cool on a stick!

They aren't _that_ obscure as such but I'm with you on this one - just love the noise and pull of the VR6 engine and the purposeful if slightly awkward look of the car. Often tempted to get one but they sourced a lot of the off the shelf parts from some really random sources and some of them are rather expensive to replace if they go wrong.

Mine!

Love the look of the Z3 Coupe!

Was it only avaliable in M form in the UK? I've only seen one non M before and it had amber indicators all round so assumed it was some kind of euro import like the facelift E46/E39's I've seen with amber's!

2.8 and facelift 3.0 like mine were LHD-only.

I always thought they where mainly a mixture of mk2 and mk3 golf bits , anyway http://bit.ly/ULQ2k0 :D

They were indeed a parts bin special for the mechanicals; mk2, some mk3 and passat mostly. The bodywork and interior were made by karmann and it was actually karmann rather than vw that assembled them (by hand). Most parts are impossible to get nowadays. There are only around 3,000ish left in the country and that number is falling rapidly as more are getting broken for parts.

I'm biased of course but imho they turned out greater than the sum of their parts (if you can find a decent one), and the vr6 sounds good (even the g60 has an unusual noise).

^^ Think thats been on topgear also. I like retro cars, never been a fan of rounded edges :D Hoping to get a Rover onto classic insurance at some point, its a classic for making it this far :p
We had a 7 seater Montego back in the day, a good classic would be old land rover on free tax, with enough seats they qualify for no congestion charge?

I've seen a couple of lada niva's round my way. After seeing Jeremy and James in one on top gear it's pretty cool to see them in the flesh and I find them quite funky in a retro way

A classic look, I always liked these

I actually thought the Starions were quite kewl...back in the day too !

I have a problem in that I've been quite spoilt in wants as I lived in England and Australia

Lotus Cortina (Mk2) well wicked as was a 6 pack charger

I suppose Evangelion will wonder why I never mentioned a GTHO Phase 3

Gimme chance... I'm getting round to it !

And for some reason I would also love a Mazda/Autozam AZ1 kei car

Edit:

Also just remembered this: Innocenti/De Tomaso Mini which was actually built by British Layland with a Daihatsu Charade engine in it :p
