Seriously baffled now.

Just had another thought. If it was the power supply why doesn't it cause the same issue in the 8x slot. :( I'll do some testing tonight on my brothers computer anyways. We'll see.

Just had an email from Gigabyte also, they've tested with the same card I own as requested and its fine so yeah. :( Confused beyond belief.

did you do a fresh windows install? just to rule that out

Yeah, went from 7, did a fresh install. No good. Did a fresh install of 8, no good.

Just tried the power supply, works flawlessly on brothers PC.

Only thing that hasn't been tried now is my CPU in my brothers system. That's up next. :(

Hopefully the CPU will make the crash. I actually want it to happen now so I can find out whats causing it. :(

NB: Not bad for my phones camera! :D

I had a similiar issue back in September last year, I posted in the following thread but never did get to the bottom of it, a different board but a Gigabyte one all the same.

Oh, a quick add on to my original thead that I never posted, I did swap out the PSU's but it changed nothing.

I sent it for testing, then it came back saying all was good etc, I posted in customer support and following is my final post......which never received another post from support dept

Quick update on this, item was RMA'd on ****** and apparently there was no fault found, as the report claims it posted fine with a GTX 690, 7970 and a 7950 IIRC.*However the problem still exists**I even swapped out the OCZ CoreXtreme 500w PSU I purchased, for my Corsair TX 750w V2 PSU from my other system, there is no difference, still it fails to boot.

I have the following in video evidence :
x4 pci-e lane DVi port -*post
x4 pci-e lane HDMI -*post
on-board DVi port -*post
on-board HDMI -*post
x16 pci-e lane HDMI -*No post
x16 pci-e lane DVi port -*No post(six videos in total)

The report advised me to check all my other hardware, which I purchased from yourselves at the same time as this motherboard, apart from the CPU, so whether its an intermittent motherboard fault or GPU fault, or even anything else, it is obviously something that OCUK supplied, my issue is that I cannot afford to keep chucking approx. £20 a time at having things checked/returned when no fault is found. So I am now stuck and seem to have to put up with running it in the x4 lane. My first ever RMA and it ends up like this...fantastic. Lesson learned about future upgrading

Thanks for your time,an unhappy Mr..Lucas.

Still causing you issues to this day?

Brb, swapping CPU to test

Right. Not the CPU either. Runs fine. Absolutely fine. No crashes even on all settings maxed with heaven benchmarking... On mine it would crash, even on the desktop.

I think I've got it...

Perhaps it's my SSD. Perhaps.

Just plugged it into my brothers PC and straight away, error.

It's done this to me in the past, thought nothing of it as I managed to fix it by unplugged my USB stick. Yeah... nothing plugged into this PC.

Bootmgr is missing. Right. Gunna get this to go into windows (somehow) and then see if the crashes occur!

If it IS my SSD perhaps it could be the hard drive your son has the drivers installed on? Perhaps if you try a different hard drive in your sons system and see if it runs, that'll help? :)

E: Eugh. Cant even reinstall Windows on my SSD right now. Its just not detecting it whatsoever. Definitely think this is the cause.

Reinstalling Windows now. Will report back soon!

Windows installed, drivers installed, heaven benchmark ran... No crash. It's literally nothing. ._.

Got everything back. Ran flawlessly on Friday after a fresh install of W8. But now it's doing EXACTLY as it was last time. Graphics crashing on desktop.

I kept getting that message a few times last year, but then it just stopped happening. Never seen it since, also recall a few people had the same problem, but never happened in games.

Mine does it non stop :( I'm gunna give it a go still and see how many more times it happens but it also seems that I get a crash when I plug in my second monitor now.

So, once you have done the install, what else have you installed, in terms of hardware and software. Just trying to see if there is some sort of conflict, which may be causing the problem.

Hardware - Already installed. Just all the basics really. Nothing extra.

Software - Just the heaven benchmark software, just to try put my card under pressure to cause the crash. Didn't crash on Friday, today it crashed.

When you say it crashed, do you mean BSOD or PC shutdown? From what I remember when I got that notice pop up, I was unaware that anything had happened and what did, was just a split second.

Screen goes black for about a second and the crash message appears

E: Whenever I load up DotA 2 it happens. Cant get in game.

Long shot I know, but can you do a restore and check to see what software or updates will be affected. Then try running without any of the updates and see what happens. I have heard that some windows updates can cause problems. As I said long shot.

I'll give it a shot. :)

If it's any help, just swapped back to my 8x slot and it's running absolutely fine. No crashes no matter what I load up.
