What are your thoughts on valentines day?
I personally think its overrated,I don't need a day in the calender. You should be able to spontaneously buy treats and do things together the whole year through. :)

I like to go out and make a deal of spending some quality time and money on a night with the lady now and then. But i don't need a day labelled to do so.

This year we're seeing Alan Davies in London on the 16th, booked well in advanced. We're staying at the Cumberland and having a nice meal too. Just a coincidence that it's the Saturday after Valentines.

Cards and other such tripe do not get purchased

Clinton Day ( are they still around?) like all the others they push down our throats.

But try telling that to the wife, it is a day I HAVE to spend money on her rather than all the other days I do.

I dont mind it tbh - I tend to sort something out for my OH, but I tend to buy him little bits of stuff anyway if I see something that I know he would like and I like cooking meals for him that I think we would both enjoy too

You make a good point which I wholeheartedly agree with but she would be mad at me if I did nothing.
Yes a lot of women are like this it perplexes me! (I am a strange woman)

That's easy for you to say, you don't know what my wifes like.

Simon I have told you repeatedly I think its overrated. I spontaneously spoil you anyway and I bought you a game the other day.:) Your naughty im all sad now:(:(:(;)

We do cards and occasionally something cheesy like the cinema but we really don't take it seriously. The edge is slightly taken off it for us as it's my birthday on the 11th and our wedding anniversary on the 20th so we don't really need another "day" between the two.

I agree. You should buy your husband treats and be spontaneously epic for him at just the perfect moments. Basically you need to learn to read his mind, it's only fair. :p

I like it as it brings the single ladys out end of Jan beginning of Feb as they don't like being alone on Valentines day. + :p

You could say the same thing about Christmas. Personally I buy my wife things all through the year and during the traditional times.
