As long as I have a card, my missus is happy enough to leave it alone. Like others, we do stuff throughout the year so expensive/overbooked outings and gifts aren't our thing.

This year I am playing to single guy looking for a desperate woman on the Friday night after valentines day.

It should be comically bad as its thrown in with a night out with a few old mates from uni, no romance, no cheesy gifts but plenty of drinks...

It's just a cash cow for certain retailers. We will probably cook a nice meal, but I already get the ball and chain flowers and gifts throughout the year anyway.

My partner isn't bothered at all about these superficial dates so it just passes me by.

It is in fact my Dads birthday, and her Mams birthday on the 14th though so just have to sort them out.

We don't buy each other cards of presents for valentines, birthdays or xmas. It's great

Me and my girlfriend are going to do something at the weekend (got a £50 discount on some Recipease cooking less...'experiences').

If I hadn't organised that may go for a few drinks or a cheap meal. Not going to break the bank for it though.

We don't go out any more after getting fed up of paying over the top prices for low quality food.
We just buy each gifts instead now.

I like it. I don't much like the whole buying a card bit (more because of how much money it is for bits of tat), but it's a good excuse to do something nice together, and there's usually above average sex at the end of it.

Thank goodness for that, I thought you were going to be the opposite.
Me and Mrs Dimple have been together since 1974 and never bought cards, bought presents or been for a meal on Valentines Day.
