*** The Official Nokia Lumia 620 Thread ***

So you've bought an obsolete, cheap Windows Mobile to use because your S3 has niggles

Not exactly. I have my main phone which is my GS3 and I have my low end Android phone for nights out, work etc. My low end Android phone is awful at the moment, crashes constantly and always locks up.

The Lumia 610 was a bargain for only £45, and they're going for double that on Ebay in used condition, so no matter which way it's looked at, I've had a bargain. :)

Much like you I see anytime an animation isn't fully smooth and it makes me sad. :p

To be fair I was a little concerned with slight animation lag on an iPhone 5 when there was a full screen of icons. In the Apple Store the models I saw weren't fully smooth in the opening and closing app animations. My personal iPhone is perfect in that department, so the lesson is never think too much about in store models - God knows what they've been put through.

The thing about demo models in shops (especially iPhones) is that there are hundreds of kids opening all kinds of games and apps, and none of them get properly closed so most of them are still running in the background. Those display phones must be constantly straining to keep up with all that load.

Makes me wonder if people even realize that their phone is running apps they assumed closed because they just hit the home button...

I decided to order the 620. I guess I know if there is any problems with it, it can be returned under DSR for a full refund so it's all good. :)

Payed a little bit extra for delivery tomorrow, £5.99, not to fussed. Looking forward to seeing it in action, all the reviews seem to be raving about it!

Glad you ordered one. Mine arrived and its great no stuttering like the display model.

IE 10 is great compared to the last version, overall great Nokia could dominate the market at this price point.

Stupid O2 have a blury logo on their Main app icon, either there is a restriction on quality on tiles or someone made it with their eyes closed!

As I said before, if it is recognised as an issue then Nokia will issue and OTA update to fix it!

I'm choosing the 620 over the 820 and 920. I love it!

Definitely the latter.

Just got one of these from o2 as wanted a cheap Win8 phone to mess with.
No problems so far with mine and phone is nice and solid too.

Dissappointed in the lack of apps though still compared to other OSes. Possibly looking at these for work but we want to be able view dwg files and pdfs.
No dwg viewer at all and the Microsoft PDF reader is abyssmal. Won't open several files at all and is just generally slow with ones it will open.

It's really still the lack of apps that is the killer compared to Android and IOS.
Otherwise it is a smooth and responsive OS and less 'fiddly' tha Android for business use.

There's loads of PDF viewers and there also seems to be several dwg apps. Although I have no means to see if they actually work. Pocket Plans

Can anyone let me know if you can use Skype (voice call) and browse at the same time?

Cheers

Yes, just tested. Adds a little bar to the top of the screen to show the status.

Its the same as if you were making a normal phone call.

Point me to them as I can't find them!
Pocket Plans only supports dwf files and I cannot find others. i will admit there is one other pdf reader app but that only works if you are downloading from web, not if attached to email. Certainly not loads of apps?!

Not on a 620 but Nokia Drive is superb, if you haven't already get Nokia Drive + beta, it allows you to download the GPS maps you need so it doesn't use any data.

Hows general web browsing? Is it nice and smooth?

Yup, smooth and a massive improvement over my Lumia 800 running 7.8.

Overall its a great experience in such a small package.

Can't wait to get my free green case.

Hi Bennie - yes I've got Nokia Drive + beta on the 620, and I've only downloaded England which 250mb. will give it a go tomorrow. If you download Scotland, Wales N Ireland its 280 so not much difference

Yeah I've only downloaded Northern Ireland, was 35ish MB. Don't really need the rest of the UK yet.

Also glad to hear their is no issues with scrolling on your devices. Hopefully mine is the same, will be here tomorrow before 10:30, shame I work till 12:30! :p

good luck Tom, bet you can't wait. No issues, very smooth, fast. I haven't stopped messing around with the phone since I got it Wednesday from O2. Its like having another PC, it's that good.
