I really wanted to buy one the new nintendo Wii U consoles but after thinking about it a bit more I can't seen to think of a reason to buy one...
Plus some the exact same games seen to cost much more for the Will U then for the 360/PS3

Example game price from amazon

Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed: Limited Edition
PS3 £17.99
360 £17.99
Wii U £29.57

What do you guys think ??

It's the first console I haven't bought in recent years, I just don't see the point in it.

Quite possibly. I see 2 main reasons.

1. The name. People think it's some kind of add-on for the Wii. It sounds petty but even now, there's loads of people who think that a 3DS is a DS that plays DS games in 3D.

2. The Wii was a bit of a fad for many people. It seemed (to me) that people who didn't play games, all of a sudden went to get a Wii for a laugh. Pubs had wii leagues etc. I just think that phase has passed for them.

Its all about the exclusive games, and Nintendo has a good share of them that are always top quality with great gameplay etc, way more exclusives than Sony and Microsoft anyway.

New Super Mario Bros U = good
ZombiU = reviews are really up/down on this one
Nintendo Land = batch of 12 mini games

Have I missed any others

Yeah you have missed loads, i am not talking about what they have currently released, i am talking about their catalog of exclusive titles that are yet to be released. The console has only been out for a few months, and you expect a ton of games to be released already?

Once we see what the next gen has to offer im sure the Wii U will be left out in the cold somewhat.

There will always be a market for Nintendo but they need to up there game if they want to compete with the likes of sony and microsoft.

I have a Wii U and hope that it don't fail because that will probably mean that Nintendo will fail and as a gaming community we need Nintendo.

As I've said in another thread though this is probably the only console that I'be bought that I've been really disappointed with. I've owned it since release and have used it for a few hours most and have nothing to make me turn it on again.

Everything is stacking against it, no software (by that I mean new decent stuff, not games that have been available on other consoles for months), what appears to be little support from 3rd party developers and hardware which will be outdated this year with the release of the next gen consoles.

Nintendo have a way of surprising people and make things work, the 3DS got off to a rocky start, but in the case of Wii U I don't know what they can do. There will always be a market for their games but to work these days it needs to have wider appeal ie to the gamers and for that you need games.

I think Nintendo approached the Wii U as something they had to get out before the competition to build a lead, but didn't have enough time to get the software ready.

I played mine lots in the first few weeks, probably more than any other launch console I have owned. But since then nothing has come out and it is gathering dust.

Its not even like the line up will pick up in Q2, there doesn't seem to be anything until Q3/Q4, by which time the console could already have failed. I can't understand why they didn't have a 'proper' big game available for release (or even scheduled for Q1/Q2).

I disagree. As long as they start getting good games out by the time the next PS/XBOX hit the market it'll do fine. The launch line up will be as dire as always for those consoles giving the Wii U enough time to get a decent foothold as long as a good number of decent titles are released.

I hope it does. I hope to see Nintendo become a handheld / software company. The only reason to buy a Nintendo console is their first party software, of which there is not enough for me to justify it. I just want to play a true next generation Zelda on an xbox.

Back in the day you had rareware and others, now its just not the same. Saddens me to say it.

What a load of nonsense.

The console has only been out a few months and were already concerned it will fail. I seem to remember the same being said about the 3ds and look at what a price drop can do.
