Asteroid to just miss the Earth on February 15 and other asteroid related discussions

You're better off watching the two excellent space station passes coming up. Saturday and Monday early evening!!!

Cheers for the heads up, will keep an eye out.

Here's a picture from where the one in russia fell (or part of it!?)

There are reports that it exploded in Chelyabinsk, Russia... Causing multiple windows in town to shatter to pieces... The trail of it was seen all over Ural.. Funny thing is that NASA is saying that the "meteorite" will pass close to earth 11.25 PST which as I understand in next 6 hours?? So was this thing a tiny piece and the real deal is yet to come?

This meteorite was travelling at 600km/h and weighed 1kg... in case someone wishes to use their physics knowledge.

OR there's more than one meteorite in space.

It seems that the Russian meteorite came from the direction of the asteroid belt, which I belieive is the opposite direction to the approach of the 'near miss' asteriod slated to arrive later today. Unlikely that it's part of the same body.
