Well, I think scrapping this scheme is horse crap. This scheme helped me into work a while back.
I worked for a computer shop a few years ago, fixing laptops and PCs, and I got nothing other travel travel expenses and my benefits.
it wasnt the experience that helped me into work, as I had that already in better positions, it was the fact employers saw that I was willing to work, and I wasnt just another lazy bum collecting JSA and not looking for work.
People who see this as slave labour, or whatever miss the point of the scheme. Its not like its offered to people who have just gone on JSA either, its for people who have been on it over 12 months. And they arent expected to be on the scheme the entirety of their time on JSA, its for a few weeks\a month.
Although I stayed on after my month was up, as I understood the value of getting my backside out of bed and doing some work. And I understood it looked good to a potential employer.
