Geforce Titan rumours.

Why am I not entitled to assume that? They seem to be entitled to go around saying that any one who doesn't want one either.

1. Can't afford it.
2. Is a hater.
3. Is jealous.
4. Insert reason here.

That is, by their own confessions the only reason some one wouldn't buy Titan. And it's that sort of thinking that is causing the problem in the industry and the world (see the point about housing).

Then you are buying into it and creating a rod for your own back. I would start saving in that case because in X months time when the 7xx cards come prepare to pay £800+ for the top end one because you have already shown Nvidia that that's a perfectly acceptable price to pay for one.

You seem to have figured out a way to convince yourself it's worth it so by all means go right ahead. As I said, don't be surprised when your good old pal Nvidia charges the same again, and again, and again.

I believe the terminology is Turkeys voting for Christmas.

People have pretty much one reason why they are buying Titan but I've done that one so I won't waste any more of my time on it.

You know it's quite funny because yesterday I was told I was insulting people by telling them they were foolish for spending £830 or more on a graphics card. Yet they have had no problem coming back with retorts such as -

"People are not buying Titan because they can't afford it"

"People are just jealous"

"People are haters because they can't afford it"

And so on. It's quite remarkable how being told they are crazy for spending that on a GPU is seen as insulting yet telling people they can't afford it (which I would imagine would be STRONGLY offensive to those who are absolutely skint due to this recession) is perfectly fine and OK. Doesn't matter who you offend so long as you can find a good reason in your head to justify making the GPU market become all about how much money you can spend.

People might be saying stuff like that but not me so its not ok to generalise and include me in your generalisations because I am buying a gpu I am what you say I am? I am creating a rod for my own back by expressing a buying pref?

For the record I don't believe in Christmas, don't like turkey in the least and the housing situation? sorry I cant do anything about that :)

Wow, some of the comments in this thread are so childish and petty, can't we all just get along? :)

If anyone wants to buy a Titan, myself included, they should be able to so without their decisions judged and state of mind questioned.

Unfortunately the almost complete lack of decent moderation in this forum makes the end results pretty inevitable... as long as people think they can hide behind the anonymity of the internet and get away with whatever purile gibberings and put downs on potential customers they think they can get away with in order to generate attention for themselves

which company am I most likely to buy from, the one whose forum has people discussing a new product with interest, or the one where 1 member is allowed to post page after page of childish insults targeted at anyone thinking of buying said product?

^^

+1

Everyone that's got a problem with a certain somebody's post should email Admiral Huddy or use the RTM system.

To be fair to them, they can't read everything and I know that Admiral Huddy in particular has a keen interest in moderating this forum.

@greg,

What would you say if the 8970 was to make a dramatic appearance 6 weeks later and almost matches Titan in most titles but beats it in a few(GE tiles for talking sake)for £500 or even worse, betters it?

It's viable as AMD does have it, Nvidia threw the 580 out very, very quickly and wasn't expected, perhaps AMD are playing games.;)

It would also leave the 7970 sitting in a comfortable position in the £300 price bracket.

I understand your question Tommy and if it wasn't for my monitors, I would be quite saddened. The thing I have done is thought long and hard and weighed up all my options and it just makes no sense to swap out my monitors for ones that perform weaker in 3D (going by reviews).

Now going back to the original question, I would be pleased as punch for the guys who would buy the 8970 and pull some funny faces when comparing the benchmark threads and see me getting beat.

All good and I know the possibilities of AMD releasing the 8970 towards the end of the year (I am still confused about the former Nvidia chaps statement) but I think I will be staying Nvidia till the 4K monitors become mainstream and cheaper.

On a different note, I consider most of the threads that get out of hand here as guys puffing their chests out but one person in particular here is just becoming annoying with nothing valid to say and repeating the same garbage that has been said over the last two days. Why this perseverence is beyond me and I wish it would stop. This was a decent thread :(

How about this:

If you have the money and want one - Buy one.
If you don't have the money but want one - Tough ****
If you don't have the money and don't want one - Look elsewhere.

Now it realy is that simple. Spot on Illuz.

The price of PNY's Tesla c2070 gpu at £3,327.19 makes the Titan as cheap as chips lol. All the best you future titan owners, show us some photo's of your rigs when you update. Have to say though, that the titan design is very nice.

It amuses me that I have not seen a single comment anywhere regarding the Blower type cooler being the only option on Titan. Maybe the times are changing and people realising the merits of this type of cooler ?

I'm sure many have also seen or owned the excellent His IceQ 7950, so strange we only have His developing this type of cooler currently.

If I am honest, the fan with the reference EVGA 680 was pretty poor. I have great airflow in my case and the temps were never great.

I will be swapping over the coolers as soon as the waterblocks are ready :)

Who are you thinking of getting waterblocks from?
So far I've only seen the EK ones but they look pretty fugly... unless I can work out a way of fitting the original cover back over them (and keeping the lit up Geforce logo in the process)

Are we seeing benchmark results soon?

tomorrow

Yer EK. I had the same on my Lightnings and in truth they are Ugly things but temps were awsome and that is the main thing for me.

I voted for the one with no circles on (which is winning)

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2013/02/19/nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-first-look/4

If we take the GTX 580 1.5GB and GTX 560 Ti 1GB as a comparison (both the predecessor of the GTX Titan and GTX 680 2GB respectively), the performance difference was around 30 per cent, so we can realistically expect the same kind of increase from the Titan. Whether that’s enough to justify the (admittedly large) outlay is a question we'll have to wait until Thursday to answer

Don't go anywhere near Guru3d then they are still using an i7 965 @3.75mhz for benching.

Cheers for the heads up. I will probably look for loads and then cherry pick the ones that I like the most (joking) but I will want to see a few.

We have heard of one OC of 1150Mhz but I want to see if this is what we can expect or if this is just a one off.

I think the people who will buy this card (Me included) know there not getting a decent price VS performance. It's the best that's available right now until AMD can release a product that brings the price back down to a more sane level. Those willing to buy know this already.. Everybody is aware that the price is disgusting. I still want one though :p.

There is already the HD 7970 and GTX 680 for normal high end cards.

and HD 7950 and GTX 670 below them

Every market is catered for atm. Let's see how AMD respond.
