Geforce Titan rumours.

If this had been £600 it would have been a no-brainer :( However, I just got my credit card balance down to 0, and come 2pm tomorrow (or whenever these go on pre-order) I'm not sure I will be able to stop myself doing something stupid.

I know the 690 is faster, or even two 680s... I'm only doing 1080p, albeit at 144hz thanks to Asus. My mind is telling me no.... but my heart...

I think there will be quite a few bought by people that know it isn't the most sensible choice. I'm going to convince myself by saying although my 800D case is plenty big enough for housing livestock never mind a few graphics cards, I have been hoping to attend a Lan event or two at some point in the near future, and the size of this case will just make that impractical, so I'm probably going to have to downsize to something quite a bit smaller soon so that makes the Titan really the only option.... yes... that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Not trying to sway you but this Titan isn't as big (size wise) as a 690 and will fit nicely into small Lan cases ;)

I'm in almost identical boat to you, i cleared my CC the other month in anticipation for the card, expecting it to be £1000. Now all of a sudden my head is being filled with doubt. I game @120hz and rarely at that.

I was saving up for a new bike for the end of march, and £800 goes quite a long way for the bike i'm after, it's either buy the Titan - hop over to X79 or buy a very nice bike :D

I know what one my face is telling me, i just cant afford all three :D :D

Greg, given my situation what would you do? Old wise one :D

Yes Greg, you do not need to try as it's your motto that you live by. "Buy Nvidia today or be g__ erm, a flag". :D So yeah, not trying, you're actually manipulating people with weak spending habits so you can have a group of Nvidia people behind you against those AMD driver cheats!!!!!.

Trollololol.

You know me too well JD :D

You have a decent system already Tones and I know you have a 7970 out for RMA but when it is returned, you will feel better.

Get the bike bought and maybe end of March, the price of Titans will drop considerably, or I am sure they will once the silicon is produced in plentifulness.

If I hadn't already flogged my 680's, I would be having doubts.

I read there will be water cooled custom versions of this card in due course, no doubt EVGA will make their own Classified version. I wish we could get solid information on all this :(

A custom card with 3GB of memory would be far more suitable for most of us, I do read also as said before, This is not a limited run but will be a limited supply for a while ;)

I think I will get every mod going for Skyrim and then say "Everyone needs 6GB cards" to play Skyrim :p (one for you Tommy)

3GB is plenty though and I am a little miffed on how to keep the under side memory cool with a waterblock on top. Spot fans I guess but water would be better.

You know me too well JD :D

Yeah mate, even down to the "lets sit in jackets and open doors/windows to hit those Artmoney 3 pointer clocks". I've been that guy too with my Lightnings :D.

Saying that, you're the most friendly and easy to get along with fanboi I've ever met. You'll also advise correctly when a clear winner is there so kudos to your green fingered madness.

JD welcome back. I thought you had retired.

lol Thank you LtMatt, good to be back. A lot of stress with friends and work have kept me from being social since December. Things are lighter now so will be poking my nose in more.

Also my Qpad MK85 just died a few days ago. LED's went then next day it's not working so I'll order a mic when I RMA and hopefully get a game with you and a few lads on BF3 (thanks for the offer and sorry for not getting back to you). I've got your server on favourites and will pop in more.

What did you water cooled 680's run at temp wise ?

Good to see you back JD. We were like kids in a sweetshop with that Artmoney :D As for the fanboy, I try to push people onto AMD purely to make them realise how bad AMD is and they never want to go there again :D:D:D

Enough of that, but when it isn't my money, I try to advise the best priced card for the required persons needs.

What did you water cooled 680's run at temp wise ?

45C max on big clocks.

So the memory should not be a problem then ;) A couple of 140mm or 120mm unobstructed front intake fans, you should be good to go.

Heaven was the killer (I do love benching). I could bench 3DMark Fire Strike with +1000 on the memory (max the slider would go to), with no problems but if I tried that on heaven, it would soon start to warm up and artifact (I never liked to see a disco, so stopped it). With no cooling on the underside memory, I can see this warming up very quickly.

Cheers mate, missed all the bickering too much and AndyALX didn't disappoint (joking Andy :P). Yeah that ArtMoney was brilliant to our locked/reduced voltage F8 BIOS :D. The AMD ploy worked on some but there's people you've sent to AMD that haven't come back due to the "magic" AMD driver :(.

Modesty will get you everywhere ;).

45C max on big clocks.

Ouch!!!. (compared to my air :D)

Yeah the 690 is a huge beast, but boy does it look sweet:D

There's going to be a mad rush when ocuk finally start taking orders. I wonder how many titan's they will get, any predictions?
