Around about now, people should start getting excited about the next gen iPad, that would or should be coming out around end of March. Yet no one seems to be talking about it, or getting excited.

No doubt we'll see a new iPad, that has a thinner bezel, 'double the processor' power. Or a new mini with retina display. Being heralded as the 'Best ever' iPad. But isn't this just what we've already seen.

I myself, am an iPhone / iPad early adopter, as in i have it the day it comes out. But unless they come up with something special, other than an extra line of icons and a thinner bezel, i feel i'm really starting to lose interest.

I think they need to come out with something amazing, such as a flexible OLED version to get people saying again, wow Apple is back up there !

What do you guys think? Has the bubble burst for Apple?

I don't think the bubble has burst, but they might well start having flat/falling sales in the US/Europe.

I don't see any silicon level tech (currently available) that they could use to make the big jump that everyone wants from them, and I don't think they are going to risk changing their designs too drastically in fear of alienating their loyalists.

This, I love my Apple gear but since the iPhone 5 came out it was a disappointment so went back to my 4S for awhile until I bought a S3, Nexus 4, 7 and 10. Personally they need to up the game now and not make the next phone 0.2mm thinner and same iOS  They didnt lose all those Billions for nothing.

My interest in the computer side has waned because I don't use either my Mac Pro or MacBook Pro all day everyday anymore, and hence this is the first year in a good 6/7 years that I won't be buying a new Mac. Mainly due to the two I have are fast enough for what I do with them. (A W3680 or 980X isn't slow by today's standards!)

The iP5 has got so far that for what I use it for it is ideal. Only something like a huge jump in battery life would get me to go 5S.

So other than software updates, I'm just a casual observer rather than keeping up!

In short: Yes

In long: I think they've run out of innovations. Samsung (and very nearly Nokia) are becoming swiftly more innovative on all fronts. Perhaps an integrated Apple TV could be the future. But in terms of iPods/Pads/Phones, they're fairly dull now.

I think so, massive lack of innovation. Seems like they're resting on their laurels at the moment.

I thought Jon Ives would've come up with some newer stuff. But I guess now Jobs has died, there isn't anyone there to 'direct' and cut the crap.

Perhaps a little bit, but I don't think so generally. Apple are still on top in their main markets but they do need to switch things up a bit. People accuse them of a lack of innovation but it's not as if Samsung are truly doing a better job of it. It's all incremental stuff at the moment.

I was reading the iPhone 5 did pretty well on release: http://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/...he-worlds-best-selling-smartphone-in-q4-2012/

I'm expecting some significant changes this year, especially to iOS. It can't stay the same for too much longer.

It depends on who you ask.

Certain portions of the tech crowd maybe, but I'd argue that the general public have never been more interested. Obviously the excitement is going to wane with each incremental update but that's true of most things.

Be careful what you wish for anyway; the ridiculous Apple Watch may become reality.

I always hear how Samsung are innovative compared to Apple? Examples? Or is it just a convenient thing to say with no real substance?

I think they need to focus more on integration, the Apple TV set (not the current STB) could bring this.

If they bring that to market and Google TV improves, then it will become a content battle. Then we'll see (in the UK) a Sky/Google/Apple battle.

I've only just started my relationship with Apple, this last 12 months.....
After my purchase of an Apple iPad, 32gb, which is brilliant I must admit, I have now ordered an iMac 27"' for delivery in March -
But, I can't wait!
Apple products just seem to work, seamlessly, as my iPad demonstrates, it is really good.
So, I'm a new Apple customer? I hope I'm not disappointed?

The whole 'just works' thing simply isn't true. It's just perception shaped by Apple's quite frankly brilliant marketing.

My iPad is currently just a glorified music player I'm using for audiobooks at the moment because the WiFi is that flaky on it since the iOS update it drives me nuts. I'd say about 50% of all the Apple stuff I've owned over the years has developed at least one significant fault.

If you believe everything is going to be flawless then you will be disappointed, but thankfully they have very good customer service for the most part so that helps.

But the majority of the time It just does work, your ipad or wifi is faulty, mine and thousands of others is working as designed.

Yes no one can doubt, they've simplified computing down to just the essentials (for the average joe) and taken world domination with great looking products that are simple to use.

However for me, its starting to become more of the same. When everyone saw the iPhone for the first time, it was wow this is amazing ! Then they put a GPS in there, then retina everyone was going crazy and the rest of the crowd were playing catchup. They were well ahead of the game. Now it seems the gaps been closed.

I still prefer an iPhone over an Android any day of the week. Never went with a mac, probably never will. I guess the touch screen has now become the norm. There's nothing to excite anymore. Glad they shook Microsoft off the top though. At least making them having to re-think their entire strategy. Just as everyone is getting bored with the touch interface, Microsoft are just bring theirs out. Seems out of touch to me. Which i may add, i've not gone ahead with. Why I've seen it and done it with my iPad. Thanks.

It depends what you want and expect. We have an iPod touch, iPad and a mini mac which work well together for our needs. For us they do just work. My gaming PC on the other hand took a lot more effort to tweak so it works well.

You are right about their marketing which is why I am very careful and cynical before buying Apple products to make sure they do what I need.

We've had a collection of MacBooks/Pros and iPads in our house over the last five years or so and I'd certainly say there's more to 'just works' than marketing perception!

Indeed, I base "just works" on how much help I have to give to my family members. Most of my family now own an Apple product of some description, and I generally don't hear from them anymore in regards to technical help :) it's bliss!

Before hand, with early smartphones, generic POS high street laptops filled with junk it was a never ending technical support job.
