Geforce Titan rumours.

I think the 5760 x 1080 results will be much better but even there 2 Titans are going to be struggling to beat 3 HD 7970s (3gb vram is plenty for most things @that resolution).

I don't think I will be getting any, I use 1600p and even with 3 Titans it would not be any better than what I have got now.

Maybe at my res they will come into their own, time will tell

I might try that tactic the same as you and LtMatt suggested. Argh I dunno what to do. Common sense tells me to wait a little time but common sense and I have never got on too well.

Same here. Up until the above video I was going to SLI them for some surround but I'm now dubious they will outpace a couple 7970's by enough.

I know its not a budget card - but those figures look terrible - especially since there are no comparisons with 7970 crossfire, 680 SLI, or even a 690 in that video, all of which would destroy it I assume.

EDIT: Realised AresII is obviously 7970 crossfire

Comparing against 660SLi is surely missing the point of this card as well

Yes it is a bit daft comparing to 660 SLI but you are still missing the point of this card as I see it. The comparison points of multi card are mainly for information only because a comparative single GPU solution is always more advisable than a multi GPU solution if performance is similar.

680 SLI will no doubt be faster at 1080p but that's neither here nor there since both set ups will be chugging excessive FPS in most games. But what for the ones which don't scale well in multi GPU? What about high resolution where the memory bandwidth on the 680s becomes an issue?

Until that data is released along with overclocking performance it's just speculation. But you can't simply dismiss it because it isn't offering value for money compared to 7970 CF/680 SLI because that's not seeing the full picture even if you personally wouldn't get one on value for money perspective.

It's not offering much over a single 7970 either based on that video.

Not long to go now though.

Not doubting that Titan may be the fastest single GPU available, and it may be ideal for people who are running high resolutions, across multi-screens on games that don't scale.

However...
+20% (in the majority of the tests) over a 7970 IS disappointing if these benchmarks are anywhere near accurate

and in the higher res, graphically demanding benchmarks, which people are saying is where Titan will excel - the video was showing an improvement in the range of e.g. 23.8fps for a 7970, 30.7fps for a titan - both still sub 30fps, and not what I would consider playable.

As I've said before I won't be buying Titan, as I am clearly a scrub who cannot afford it. However, just because I won't be buying it doesn't necessarily mean I want it to fail...

IF Titan is much faster, and IF it is not a limited availability publicity stunt product, then AMD would be worried, and release something to compete - benefiting us all AMD or NVIDIA fans... Competition is normally good for everyone.

Not really, they are showing you can get better performance for less than half the money. Pretty important for people to know tbh.

Well firstly, I don't believe those numbers. We'll wee when the NDA is lifted what the overall picture is.

Secondly, as above what about games with multi GPU scaling issues and/or smoothness issues? What about high resolution where the 192 bit bus will be hampering? What about memory intensive effects/games where its a limited factor as well?

It's not offering much over a single 7970 either based on that video.

See above. Those numbers look way out of sync with the bulk of other rumours so I doubt they're trustworthy. As you say, we'll know soon enough.

Nearly 30% faster than a 7970 in BF3. Looks pretty good, but only 14% in Crysis3 which is probably the most graphicaly heavy game around at the mo. Hmm.

Edit; 17% in FC3 is not too great either really. Those results make the Ares II look a much better buy.

It was an R7970 so that would indicate its 925Mhz id imagine. He also showed what looked like a reference 7970 near the start. If it was a Ghz edition card then i would have thought it would say that and the clock would be 1050. I guess we'll know for sure in an hour though.
