Who the hell would buy this? Way too over priced for what it is IMHO. If you can get the Apple Eduction discount, the 13" RMBP somehow makes more sense than this.

tl;dr:

Overpriced? This seems to better than the best ultrabooks and the Macbook Air.

Why pay more for an arguably worse machine (gimped specs and OS) just for a 'OMG SUPER HIGHRES SCREEN!1111 RETINA' display. I mean it's nice, but is it worth the price premium?

The cool factor is off the charts.

1 TB storage for 3 years = $1800, so not too shabby! Wouldn't pay the asking price but damn I want one  I'll stick with my cheapo ARM one. Does everything I need.

I've thought that Amazon S3 would be perfect for large data volumes in the cloud to be honest.

Doesn't look good.. Why would you get this over the Windows/mac options? 32gb ssd? Crazy

Paraphrasing Tom Warren:- Can you imagine if Microsoft had released a massively thick, heavy Surface laptop running Windows RT without even a customised touch based UI for £1000???? There'd be outrage!

I think it looks nice but the price is all wrong.

They are trying to soften the blow by throwing in the "free" storage but what they forget is that outside a few special cases most people do not have the data caps to upload or download that kind of data especially on mobile contracts.

I just don't get it, when I saw the video a few weeks ago I gathered their tactic would be to sell it cheap... But this is ludicrous, what are we paying over a grand for exactly, the screen is not exactly groundbreaking even compared to their cheap Nexus 10. The hardware specs are pretty good but... What are we going to use that power for? Web apps?

Overpriced, overspecced machine with and underpowered, undersupported OS.

Id personally take the Surface Pro, its much better value with a full featured OS. Rather than some poor attempt at a OS.

So would I. If they ever bloody get around to releasing it in the UK.
