Some *legal* criteria first:
* exceeds the maximum number of characters allowed in a name (250 for first name, 30 for surname. Both include spaces).
It's a pain in the ass trust. I legally changed my name to Gordon Freeman for well over a year.
They say it doesn't effect your credit rating but so many systems can only check one name per person and I started failing credit checks where I would have passed before. In the end I changed it back, partly to get a mortgage and partly so I could have the same surname as my brothers again.
plus it was like £100odd quid if I recall to change the passport, driving license change was free though.
