Now Crysis 3 is here my 480soc needs updating but the price of the MSI GeForce GTX 680 Twin Frozr has increased from £360 (on offer) about a month ago to £400 now :(
Ironically I updated from a 470 to 480soc & new PSU to play Crysis 2. Even though the 480soc has been faulty from day one it still works lol.

Obviously to play Crysis 3 with TXAA you'd need 2x 680, which is now a price increase from £720 to £800

I can't believe OCUK would take advantage of gaming enthusiasts wanting to upgrade their graphics card so they can play Crysis 3 better. Has the worldwide cost of nVidia cards increased?

I think 1x Titan £860 is 20% slower than 2x 680 £800 (was £720) & therefore would only give you 44fps in Crysis 3 with TXAA, compared to 55fps with 2x 680. Thats with an Ivy at 4.8ghz too! Forget the old slow Sandy dinosaur 6 core.

Ive not tried TXAA as the geforce experience recommends me using 1xSMAA low and thats with 2x Asus 680's latest 314.07 drivers

earlier in the year, before the USA voted on their new tax rules to avoid the fiscal cliff you could get a $400 VGA card for £245
Now, with today's dollar rate, the same card costs £264

This is a simple, unavoidable fact of global finance. Unfortunately, companies like Overclockers UK, who sell a massive amount of stock each week, are forced to increase their pricing more quickly than other companies who may still have stock from January (or just haven't noticed that they are losing money)

on the Titan front, I would personally buy two good quality GTX 680's & spend the left over cash on an SSD.

I guess this explains the 7970 Lightnings sudden price hike from ~£379 to £500 too then?

Thankfully the MSI 7970 OC is still hitting the magic £299 :D

Can anyone explain to me why gpu's they already have in stock are magically affected by the dollar when they were already bought and paid for a while back? I can understand if they were buying them at a price where the dollar was affected but for ones already in stock? Don't get that =/

Agreed. I noticed that too:confused:

hehe - doesn't that invalidate the warranty though ? :(

how loud are we talking - I found my 4890 (stock cooler) a lot more annoying noise wise than the 3 fans on my 480 SOC

not just the loudness - but a real agricultural sort of grind of a fan :( is it similar on the 7970s ? hard to tell on videos on youtube etc

nope that'll be because they are no longer being made and there is no more stock anywhere. :( (also 8 pack wants them all for himself which doesn't help :p)

Gibbo won't wait for an item to run out of stock before buying more. He is setting prices based on the latest buy price, stock availability and demand. Gibbo is the most proactive guy that I've ever met in this industry and that's the reason that he gets all the good deals.

Oh yeah great proactive guy that will make others buy somewhere else? I'm sure he's a great person in really life, but money is tight for everyone. If I find it cheaper somewhere else, then that's where I'm buying it. end of
