Decided to go with Windforce 3X instead Vapor X since a lot member recommend this card, heard 7950 can overclock to 7970 though have no knowledege on overclocking :( by chance someone can link me some guides? only can see the 7850 oc thread.

Does overclocking the graphic card require overclock system?

Here is a review with benchmark on overclocking it

i got the 7950 core 900mhz /Memory 1250mhz oc to 7970 1000mhz core / 1375 Memory crossfired with a 7970 Windforce 3X

overclock tool : afterburner 231
&
GPU-Z.0.6.7 for more info on the oc

you dont need to change the core volts to get 1000 on core & 1375 on memory as its not a big oc & is 100% stable

Thanks will check those out this weekend and fiddle with setting since it's still in the box

Been meaning to do mine for a while so this lunch time I had a small play around and managed to get it to 1000mhz at voltage 1100. Gonna see If I can get the clock higher. Tried before without moving the voltage and just kept crashing so bumped it up and tried again and did the 15minute burn in test with furmark and ran perfectly so I assume its stable.

Mucked about with mine last night, got it stable at 1100/1500, voltages are 1200/1550. Might try to push it a bit more tonight.

ASIC is about 59%, temps on a run of the latest 3DMark peaked at 50/58/58, fan profile is a bit TOO aggressive!

Card came with FZ1 BIOS but I'm running F43 now, consensus was it would run cooler due to lower voltages.

@aceytrixx - what mobo you got? I've got the WF3 but also 8GB Crucial (sport tho) and my 3570K is @ 4.2, all in my MSI G45

my 7950 wf wont do any higher than 1350 on the mem :( my old msi did 1800 gutted :( Im going to try tweak the memory volts and see. Would love to get 1500 on the memory.

Catonia what voltage have you used to get those settings?

some business sellers on flea bay dont even offer warrenty or say anything ,
well i looked up all windforce 7950 cards in the uk on flea-bay
from the search , one bisiness only offers 1 year warrenty
2nd dont even say about any warrenty

no the warrenty is by the seller not gigabyte
as they stated on there website here

1.218 volts for a stable 1200 CPU and 1500 Mem O/C
1.250 volts for a stable 1240 CPU and 1500 Mem O/C

Cannot get my memory even 1 point over 1500 without a blank screen no matter what I do.

I have the version with the bios which clocks the core at 1000Mhz out of the box and runs the core at 1.25 volts under load. Not bothered flashing to a version with more conservatire vCore as temps don't seem to bad (typically 60 degrees core and about 70-75 on VRMs).

Currently at 1125 core and 1450 memory. Pushing either much higher and I start to get slightly odd behaviour moreso in menus (particularly Far Cry 3) than actually in game.

That's the bios I have got. I don't find anything wrong with it I can always lower the default 1.25 v.

The 1125 core you have got is that with the voltage set at 1.25? Because with voltage like that 60 deg core is superb .

What voltage you running your mem at? seems odd it wont go higher than that. Mine does 1500 at 1.5v 1750 at 1.6 and 1950 at 1.7, i know all chips are different but maybe ya just need a little more power to get it going.

I'm also overclocking my Windforce 3x HD7950, I've currently got 1200/1500 with 1.200v on the vcore. Heaven is running at the moment in the background (it's been on for about 15 mins so far, so it's looking stable!!)

edit - it broke. back to the drawing board.

running 2500x1440 and crysis 3 on high and so far temps are stable with fan on auto

run the game for 2 hours earlier today with no problems although in farcry 3 i did see some shadow errors after 1hour of play

whats the best software to test a overclock for prolonged use
i need to squeeze every last drop out of mine to run the res and the games i want on high

tried everything, just will not go to 1501, no slow degredation, just instant fail.

Also my 1200 CPU 1500Mem at 1.218 isn't stable on Crysis 3 (no surprise).

Works ok on 1150 same voltage, so might have to play a tad with it all.
