Highest place you've been on

Mauna Kea in Hawaii. 13,803 ft (4,207m) above sea level, 33,500 ft from the base to the tip! Definitely felt the change in altitude. It was likely being quite drunk and woozy.

Being America, we were able get a ride to the top though. :p

3,883m at the Klein Matterhorn in Switzerland. Apparently the highest cable car in Europe.

12,000ft in the Altai Mountains in Siberia

in our 1.1 litre Citroen Saxo

in 1st gear pretty much all of the way

Not really sure - my parents in their younger days were enthusiastic mountaineers - I was up the top of ben nevis like 6 months after learning to walk. Done a few 4000m peaks (and higher) but it was all when I was pretty young and don't really remember much specifically.

I would think anything above 5000m requires some serious training/preparation?

It will depend hugely mountain to mountain, nature of the ascent, surrounding geography and the effect it has on weather, etc.

As far as mountains go then the top of Aiguille du Midi (3842m) with it's wonderful view of Mont Blanc and the Alps.

Ditto, I was scared ****less at the top though. I was fine with the ride up but once I had to get out at the top the terror struck. I don't like heights much.

Snowdon's the highest thing I've gone up under my own steam.
