Looking to build a new rig as mine is getting on.

Can anyone spec me a good rig for gaming? Want it to be as cutting edge as possible.

Looking to ideally spend around £1500 but could be persuaded to go nearer £2k if it was really worth it.

Only thing I won't need is a monitor. Will need new speakers, keyboard and mouse (preferably wireless) I might get away without purchasing a new power supply as I had to get a new one about 6 month ago.

Thanks in advance :)

i7 into the mix, and a newer socket, with a bit more ram, i'd maybe wait tbh and see what the next ones are like tbh in July maybe if you can wait..

plus a few 120mm case fan's in both builds for better airflow, and maybe a h60 liquid cooler etc if you like that sort of thing

i5 build with a titan card, way over priced for me, i'd wait until it's not so new and half the price before i'd even think of having it, but that's just me

* An i5 is the best choice for gaming as the i7 offers no improvement over the i5 in terms of gaming. However, you do have the money so you may feel like you want to get the i7. It just offers no improvement over an i5 in games.
* A (modular) PSU big enough to Crossfire/SLI the 7950 if you would want to in the future.
* A 256GB SSD included to store games/apps/OS.
* Nice, spacious case with great cable management (it's up to you whether you like the case's looks or not).
* Some people will say Windows 7 is better than 8 (including me), so you choose what you prefer, I've just put 8 in there for now.
* Wireless gaming mouse with lots of programmable buttons.
* Very nice keyboard for the price, I have one myself and can't fault it.
* Included a large OcUK mousemat :)
* Great aftermarket heatsink to allow you to overclock your CPU to high levels.
* Fantastic motherboard packed with features.

Hope this helps :D

new socket that's upgradable to more cores if you want, might be some badly optimised console ports that likes a lot of cores for instance with the new consoles! fastest gfx card near performance of sli 680s without all the sli driver issues. Left out the case as that's personal but left you enough budget for one. masses of solid state memory for all your games!
16 gigs of ram - new consoles have 8 so lets just give some leeway for os and optimisation issues!
you already have a psu so use that or else get a cheaper case and a new psu!
add in any old dvd drive!
add in heatsink!

• Fast CPU, Ivybride-E will also be socket2011 when its released.
• Cooler - http://www.eteknix.com/thermalright-archon-sb-e-x2-cpu-cooler-review/
• Motherboard - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18477560
• Crossfired 7970's
• PSU,

I have included some very easy to overclock settings to get the CPU up to 4.5-4.7Ghz in my board review. At that speed the CPU really flies, also Crysis3 seems to be one game that does make use of multiple cores - http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28031659-Crysis-3-CPU-Benchmarks-Vengeance-of-Multi-Core

Where does the REVO drive go? ;)

With two dual slot GFX cards that mATX board is completely rammed full and there are no slots free.

Perhaps you shouldnt have altered your spec from the two SSD drives you had originally.

Took a while to get back but here I am :p

Thanks all for the input :) The later ones are a tad on the expensive side so thinking these two builds might be the best.

Of the two which is better? second build has all the extra little bits I was looking for and a bit cheaper too.

Thanks all!

Dacads' build has a better speaker system and graphics card compared to mine. However, mine has a better case, keyboard, mouse and includes an OS. You could just mix & match from both, as you can't go wrong with any of it really.

Will the card you specced lady long term with new games coming or is it older?

To be fair I prefer your build but could easy add his GC if its better.
