Hi chaps,

Was just wondering if there are any OcUKers around that run gaming channels or stream their gaming? It's something that's always interested me but unfortunately I don't think it will ever be possible to give it a go as I barely get enough time to play as it is.

Examples of the type of thing I mean are:

Does anyone do it? Do you do it out of fun or for financial gain?
 
JackFrags is friend of my clan, went to iseries with him last year. Nice guy.

What exactly are you after? You seen FRANKIEon1080p, thats a good channel.

I know they earn a fair bit for doing it. Also they win a lot and get Alpha/Beta keys.

all things depend on what scale we talking about many on here do gaming channels but to what extent i dont know

people like frankie are 1 offs and rare (some love his videos i dont watch em for other reasons ;)

can you earn good money ? if you get lucky and get great new and exclusives at the right time and place and get good videos you can. getting this material is the key and not any body or avg gamer can get this and needs basically people either linked to gaming devs or people who know the devs

so realistically you wont make any money unless you get said content or hit the jackpot with a viral video which is pretty much like winning lottery but also as rare.

so best thing to do is do it as you enjoy doing it and if you have a hit take it as a bonus. also a lot of popular people who do gaming stuff is rehearsed farmed stuff. try to be original or have your own style.

JackFrag has used the name Callisto before right? Rings are bell from back when I played Counter Strike competitively. He's certainly doing well!

Yes seen the Frankie one too, Total Biscuit is also good!

Definitely understand what you're saying DG. I think for something to be successful in this area requires originality and creativity to put a spin on things.

I started a few years ago but for the last few months I've been trying to post as regularly as I can (at the moment averageing once/twice per week).

Very varied games, and looking for viewer interaction :) Lots planned for the future too (check out the Update video from a few weeks ago).

EDIT: I must stress I don't do it for any money. This because:
1) I don't have the time for that sort of commitment.

2)It's completely for my own enjoyment.

So you say we know JackFrags (I slept in a bed with him OMFG!!!!) and mention some other youtuber, but decide not to state that one of our very own clan members has a successful channel? You confuse me sometimes.

I mostly stream SC2 when I'm online, failing that, some Dead Island multiplayer and CS:S/GO

Adds an extra dimension I suppose and also quite handy to review videos when not at your PC you recorded it on :)
 
I don't upload that often atm. I will when DCS Mig-21, UH-1H, F-15C, F-18C etc comes out though. Also might do some Arma 3 videos depending on how well I can run it when recording.
