URGENT! K2

I can imagine if you weren't putting too much heat into it and you had relatively decent airflow through your case - It wouldn't be ideal, but it would work to a certain point.

Id imagine it would give some passive cooling but not a lot. Not got at least 1 spare fan to slap on it?

Sorry, should be more clear. I've installed it using the pwm to the motherboard but it seems to cut out. Does it run passive upto a certain temp?

I tried it passively on a stock i7 920, cant remember the exact temps but they never reached dangerously high levels. Tbf, the stock fans on it arent too loud. Only in stress testing. At idle mine were down to 600 rpm or thereabouts and were inaudible.

EDIT: Ahh, seen your reply snips, no the fans should still run on it.

Should be ok if you have good airflow through the case, but i would have one of the fans in the middle of the cooling towers (running at a slow speed, it should be virtually silent).

Edit

Wow, way to slow!! :D

Yep, though i never used that feature. On my old board i used a pwm splitter cable, new board in sig has 2x 4 pin pwm headers. Did you try a single fan on the cpu header?

It would appear that the fans do not start unless the CPU is under stress!

Would have been nice to know this in the manual!!!

Is there a fan speed threshhold limit in your motherboards bios fan settings? Im unfamiliair with gigabyte boards, but on my asus, the fans did run slow at boot and i got a cpu fan warning. In the fan control menu theres an option to change the speed setting to eliminate this error.
