fuming at my neighbour

(Curtsey of my Dad from the 1930's)

Don't put your muck in Our Dustbin, Our Dustbin, Our Dustbin!

Don't put your muck in Our Dustbin, Our Dustbins full!

Nothing ever changes!

:D

Erm, yes you do

My point, which already seems to have been answered was that if you have bins on a two week cycle, then you may get fined for leaving the bins out, or the wrong bins out. All depends on the Council.

Again as suggested and answered yourself, leaving bins out when on holiday can also be a sign that you aren't there. My parents are chummy with their neighbours, so they share doing it if needed.

i'd take the bags out and leave them in the street or on their door step..

i wouldnt ask them as they didnt ask you.

an idiot neighbor stole our bin once, even with our number on it, they turned the bin so you couldnt see it from the front of their drive, but i walked in, turned the bin to see if it was mine and took it back..

some neighbors are pathetic..

dont do this if you think your neighbor is crazy

I can't help but question the wisdom of councils switching to a fortnightly collection and then being surprised that two weeks worth of rubbish wont fit in a bin. People don't change their habits overnight and it usually takes a lengthy charm offensive and a bit of reeducation to foster change. Hitting them over the head with a big stick for the tiniest infraction just ****es people off hugely.
As I live on my own, it's not really been a problem but even I can sometimes fill a bin so I can imagine its hard for big families or houses with students etc in them.
In Edinburgh, they've started fining people £50 for leaving a bag out beside the bin.
They are actually paying people to pick up these bags and go through the contents to try and trace the owners of the rubbish?!

I've had builders rubble dumped in my bin and often get some polystyrene and plastic shoved in there at Christmas time. Would love to catch them in the act, just to see how they look when they know they've been rumbled.

Ive had 4 trips to rhe tip the last 2 weeks because they wouldn't take my bin.. The lid was literallu open 2 inches as id squashed everyrhing down as mch as I possibly could. Cant believe how pathetic they are about it, it must provide them with some kind of fun to leave a bin.

A neighbor put old decorating waste in my bin just before Christmas along with a carrier bag of general waste. I went and put it all back in her garden.

I knew it was her because she left old chemist prescription boxes with her name and address on in the said carrier bag of general waste. :D

and they wonder why people just dump rubbish (which then costs them a hell of a lot more to sort out)

stupid councils are stupid

Welcome to planet Lunatic. What if you're away?

even better are newcastle council who wanted to charge me for a new bin when someone stole it on collection day

put the bin out at 8am before work , went to get it after work and it wasnt there

they accused me of being uncareful and of leaving my bin outside

serious WTF

It's spelt neighbour. This is a UK forum, tyvm.

@ passey89 - any follow up to this? Name and shame the council while you are at it. Stafford bin collection will collect ok if over-full. They'll even take small electricals e.g. decommissioned toaster placed beside the wheeley bin. New thing they introduced last year. Refusing to collect over-full bins simply introduces anarchy and blame culture in the neighbourhood.
