Leave your pc on at night? Or turn it off?

I did turn mine off but recently have left it on

Positives
-if you dont have an ssd you dont have to wait a few minutes at boot up
-its on first thing in the morning ready to be used
-you dont have to shut it down at night you just leave it and collapse into bed

Negatives
-Higher electricity bill
-Lessens the life of your computer
-can be noisy

Just turn it off. No point it sitting there doing nothing.

In the morning it take 20 odd seconds to boot on an ssd or whatever it takes. Mechanical will take a bit longer but even if it takes a minuter or 2 I don't see it making a hugh difference.

i leave mine on 24/7,the hum of the fans helps me sleep:D

personal choice though really, turn off if need be

electricity isnt a problem if all the power saving is enabled on your pc,helps lengthen the life of components also as they arnt running full pelt all the time

I leave mine on. It sometimes can be on for a month or two before I restart for updates/cleaning up and just giving explorer a general refresh.

One thing i forgot to mention after about 2 weeks of being on things start to build up on the ram for example i restarted my pc this week idle i was using about 5gbs of ram after restart with the same programs running on 3.5 so ram starts to get used and not cleared

I turn it off, like previously said it doesn't take long to come on with a SSD installed.

mines off every night, back on when i wake then off when at work then on when i come home.

It used to be a different story but with a ssd and windows 8 switching it on is hardly any slower than waking it up from sleep.

I leave my server box and 5 clients (4 of which are laptops) on 24/7. Night time is busy, server wakes and backups the clients runs windows updates and a full virus scan.

Unless the PC should do something (scans, backups, downloads, etc.) I would advise to leave it off. Less electricity bill, less dust in the case from the fans, longer life for the PC.

Unless the puter is doing something, it's off.

Not sure why you would want to leave a computer on overnight unless it was completing some sort of task such as downloading, scanning etc. With computers getting faster booting takes less time. Could always just hibernate it.

Sleep mode. Why more people don't use it, I'll never know. So much quicker than shutting down and starting up, regardless of whether you have an SSD or not.

I always keep mine running and only turn it off if am going to be gone for a long time, aside from updates and stuff like that requires rebooting. I have found to have more problems with turning the computer on and back on again then letting it run.

I have that thought, lets turn it off for the night to save some power and let it cool down for abit, turn it on in the morning and have problem after problem. So, the saying if it's not broken, don't fix it really works for me.

The sound of the fans isn't as bad as it used to be, can sleep okay.

I would use Sleep mode but for some reason my PC just just reboots from it or it won't wake up from it, I think it's something to do with the USB Hub in the PSU.

Windows 8, boot time is about 10 seconds. I turn it off at night always have, unless doing a download. No point burning juice for no reason.
