T-Mobile / Orange Contract Price Increases

So basically they can increase the prices as much as they want and you are either stuck paying it or have to pay the remainder of your contract up all at once to get out of it?

no. check your terms. they can do what's in them, check them. you'll see how much they can increase it if they chose to as it's in your terms. check them. don't be a child, using words like "increase as much as they want" as it's 3.3%, not some crazy amount.

I thought on a contract that when you signed up, you were agreeing to pay a certain amount for however long the contract runs. So if you agreed to pay £20 a month for 18 months, how can they legally then turn around and demand you pay more? You have a signed contract stating how much you were obliged to pay.

It's a lot of money when I don't have a job, I got this contract when I was employed and I know I did sign the contract but if I can get out of it that would be great.

You can't get out of it.

Sorry, but if you're at the point where ~£1 a month is tipping things over the edge, then you might as well just give up now.

You're going to be buggered when the food costs soar again because of the awful weather rotting the crops in much of the country.

It's not tipping things over the edge, I'd rather not spend tax payers money on a mobile phone contract but I don't want to screw my credit rating up by not paying it and I can't afford to pay 12 months as termination fee.

Telcos will sometimes allow drops in contract level under special circumstances such as job loss if you are concerned - phone up and ask, at worst they say no.

I think OFCOM will probably put the boot in faster now.

Looks like I am screwed, in their T&C's it says I can void the contract only if their price increase is higher than inflation/RPI, a few weeks ago it rose to 3.3% which is exactly what the contract increase is.

If you got a half decent phone (4S etc) that holds a decent amount of it's value, you could sell the phone and clear the remainder of the contract?

'Rising business costs'? What, like having to fork out for the 4G spectrum? Not sure how they can justify it when they recently posted profits of over £1 billion.

I can afford it I just wondered if there was a get out clause, I just feel guilty spending benefits on a luxury after all the stick people on benefits have been getting in benefit threads.

you know as i wrote my last post, i was tempted to say i very much doubt you actually will reduce your price plan to "stop wasting tax payers money", but didn't and gave you a chance. you failed miserably.
