Doesn't appear to be a section purely for Mice, so posting in here.

Donating my G9x to a friend who has seen his G9x die recently.
Like the G500 by Logitech but suspect the build quality and reliability might be a bit suspect.

So am trying to decide between the RAT5 or the RAT7??

Anyone got any good experience? Or bad as well I suppose.

Thanks

Madcatz are currently promoting a free GLIDE3 with a RAT5 which expires soon, not sure what deal they're doing in March but it could potentially be an offer on a RAT7. Not really a fan of either after using a RAT9 for a few months. I'd probably save the cash and stick with the 5 unless high DPI is really important.

I went with the RAT5 and turned out to be the biggest mistake I'd made. It took me weeks to get it RMA's and replaced with the Corsair M60. Should have done this sooner. A better mouse in every way.

The RAT 5 had issues with tracking on any surface. It would jump around the screen and when you pick the mouse up and replace it, the cursor would jump around still. Rapid clicking would cause the cursor to move rapidly. I might add, all of this does not happen on the M60.

Removing the Cyborg drivers and using the windows ones did make it a little better but far from perfect.

Would never touch one again, had 2 and nothing but problems with tracking.

Amen to that :D

The software is ok, gives you some customisation, but prefer the Corsair. They are smaller than the average mouse and the extendable wrist rest is a bonus. Good for the claw grip but unreliable.

Think it's all down to preference and what you want from a mouse. Goes for all peripherals really. The software is okay to use, I don't use it to it's full potential like I should (Different modes and actual macro's) but it's nice and simple.

I have the Cyborg v7 keyboard which uses the same software, and that had loads of driver issues, however the mouse installs flawlessly.

Definitely for the claw type of grip, which is my style. Unless your hand is a small then a standard grip would be fine.

I have the RAT7, got it at Xmas. But its on my desk at work now. I tried it for BF3 and just couldn't get used to it, so I went back to a G500.

I like Corsair products but it seems I actually have a small hand and shortish fingers. I couldnt get anywhere near that red thumb button on the side of the Corsair. was more than two fingernails distance away.
I have bought the RAT 7 as it is adjustable to the size of my hand, and my hand is wide too it seems.
I have it on a Razer Exact Mouse mat and so far it feels really good. Really responsive, much better than the G9x in that respect. So we will see how it gets on.

I think the G500 is in a similar position! Although you cannot extend the wrist plate, it is wide and reasonably long!
