More likely got the phone, won't post as everyone rightly told him he was an idiot for a) screaming at him and threatening police in such a short space of time, b) using a silly method

Sorry to be brutal but this is why such scams exist. It's so transparent it's blatantly a scam.

OP did you not consider this could be a scam?
On ebay at least you would have got your money back!
