Anyone ever become an atheist after believing?

Yes, you're right, according to your own religious texts. I don't actually know what these mssianic prophecies say, but I'm willing to bet that Islam, for example, or Hinduism, or Sikhism, or Buddhism, have an entirely different text or interpretation and actually, don't care at all about what you just said.

Fair enough, man. Sorry if there seemed to be any animosity in my post; it certainly wasn't meant that way. I'm just trying to understand.

You are rare among the religious, though. However, you are indoctrinated in the sense that you belong to a religion, but I see your point.

I'm not saying everyone is crazy, but I'd like to see their evidence for this giant flood.

There is scientific evidence for a world wide flood though.

Jesus Christ is the saviour and redeemer of mankind. He alone fulfilled all the ancient messianic prophecies, and the prophecies said he would do all this BEFORE the second temple was destroyed. That was destroyed over 1900 years ago so if Jesus isn't the Son of God then there can be none. Jesus came onto the scene just at the right moment. And we are now seeing the fulfilment of Christ's prophecies. The world is all heading for a final showdown. You only need to look around you to see this happening. I mean, in the last century, false religions, false cults, false prophets, false teachers have literally exploded. Again just as Jesus said would happen. This is all no coincidence.

And as for you Hodders with your stupid remark, are you completely unaware that abuse of animals still occurs? It's got nothing to do with reason and more to do with the fact that some people just wish to do evil. They want no part of God and wish to be their own Gods. But they won't get very far.

I knew it'd only be a short time before he appeared XD

Oh Religion

Not that rare, you may be surprised.

Ah Jason my good man, I see you are responding with the usual grace and humility.

Please please please take stock and consider how you come across.

Not sure if troll?

It would be nice if people would stop slinging terms like "mentally ill" around so carelessly. Believing in something different to other people doesn't necessarily make you mentally ill and trying to disparage others due to the undeserved and unfortunate stigma around mental illness is neither big nor clever.

...most religions within Christianity reject this and maintain that Faith is informed by Reason and that Faith is attained through rational seeking of Knowedge.

I read this, I want to agree, and then I see certain Christians' posts...

Buddha never claimed to be God. Moses never claimed to be Jehovah. Mohammed never claimed to be Allah. Yet Jesus Christ claimed to be the true and living God. Buddha simply said, "I am a teacher in search of the truth." Jesus said, "I am the Truth." Confucius said, "I never claimed to be holy." Jesus said, "Who convicts me of sin?" Mohammed said, "Unless God throws his cloak of mercy over me, I have no hope." Jesus said, "Unless you believe in me, you will die in your sins."

And again in John 18:37 "You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

And again in John 8:47 "He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

And here's a comparison between Jesus and Muhammad: http://carm.org/religious-movements/islam/comparison-between-jesus-and-muhammad

So basically you're trying to say Jesus was a bampot? :)

It's not really a case of believing in something else, it's a case of believing in something that has no basis. Still mentally ill is a stretch, mentally defiant seems much more appropriate. :P

Do you even read what you type or what anyone says to you? You have to be a troll.

Weren't you the guy who refused to answer what denomination he was?

I'm going to read through this thread now.

Any personal attacks will result in suspensions. You can go self-moderate now and hope I didn't see it, or you can leave it.

So people who believe in God are mentally ill? I suppose those atheists who reject God yet go and visit fortune tellers are mentally ill too then?

Mentally ill isnt the right word.

If you was to say people who believe in God are naive, then yes.
