Hello im looking for a new headset my last pair have broken. I have up to £200 to spend. I have been looking at the Sennheiser PC360 and the PC363D but is the +£50 worth it?

Maybe I should get a Soundcard with them as well if it will make a big difference, I spend a lot of time at the pc so Im thinking I might as well get something decent quality.

I was looking at the Razer Tiamats 7.1 as well but I guess there not as good as those mentioned above?

Sound quality wise, the Sennheiser headsets will be much better. Tiamat is for positional sound accuracy. Some people love them and think they work well, others think having so many drivers shoved into a pair of headphones doesn't work and sounds rubbish. Entirely depends on the user.

The PC360 is a very good headset. It's been discontinued, although there may be a few left on some sites or stores. The PC363D is the replacement and comes with a USB sound device. Personally I think it's too expensive, but then again I guess one could easily spend the same amount on the PC360 and a sound card.

Im going to go with the sennheisers I think, just deciding which pair to get is tough, im really indecisive with anything like this. I noticed the 350's are a bit more expensive than the 360's at the moment, what's the reason for that, is it just that the 360 are out of stock?

Are there any other headsets anyone could reccomend? I'm debating between the 360 and 363D at the moment.

PC360 was £160 at the time it was discontinued, so I guess the price you see isn't going to change, due to there being no more available, for most sites anyway. Sennheiser have a habit of continually upping the price of their headsets, so it's no surprise the PC350SE is dearer than the PC360 used to be. At one point, the PC360 was £130.

Ah now I understand thanks. Anyone got any more thoughts on which of the 2 I should purchase?
Also I just was astro brand, headsets any thoughts on them compared to sennheiser>

I think the PC350SE PC360/363D are probably among the best headsets you can get. There is a Beyerdynamic MMX300 headset, but that is very expensive for what it is.

I really wouldn't bother with Astro's. Very good for console use, but there are much better available for the PC, namely the Sennheiser's already mentioned.

Oh sweet it seems that they just got some of the sennheiser's in stock. Now i just have to choose between the 2. Are the PC363D really worth the extra money or should I just get the 360?

Hate the way Sennheiser stick a ton on just for including what is essentially a fairly cheapy USB dongle (not that theres anything wrong with it but they seem to use it as an excuse to heap on a load more than the real cost of the dongle).

My experiences tho have been very positive with these type of sennheiser models and I definitely think its worth paying for them over other "gaming" brand headsets for the sound quality.

Think I'll go for the PC363D's then, are they worth the extra 50 and certainly better and a bit more future proof then the 360's?

Complete U turn here. The Xense bundle shows what over priced nonsense Sennheiser so called 'pro gamer' or 'premium' headsets are. Don't get me wrong, they are very good; but they are making people pay through the nose for them. Looking at the Xonar Xense with PC350 included, for less than the PC363D, and only £20 more than the PC350SE, makes me want to roll about the on the floor laughing. £130 for the PC360 was ok, but £160 was too much really, and £205 for the PC363D is quite frankly a crazy price.

Yeah not liking the way they were sticking £60 on the price (now £40 but only because the headset minus dongle price rose) just for including a less than £20 USB dongle.

Pointless buying decent headphones without a decent soundcard. And for some of the models you are looking at you will need an amplified source. Either built onto the soundcard or as an amp along the chain.

True. PC360 + onboard audio is a waste really. Seeing as OcUK has no PC360, I'll mention that a competitor has them for £145. For what the 363D cost, you could get the 360 + a Xonar DX sound card, or a Creative SB Z OEM, both of which will offer better sound quality than the included USB device.

I really would not bother with the PC363D. Ridiculous price. Heck they cost more than the HD650 cost a few years ago, and they are a audiophile headphone.

I'm just about to buy a Asus Xonar D2X 7.1 PCI-E Sound Card, and was considering the PC360s as well but am now thinking a separate mic and a decent set of headphones (HD 558/598?) would be a better option so am following this with interest...

EDIT: Damn the 598s are ugly.

Going to make a purchase today, anyone have any last thought on what I should buy the 360's or 363D's?

Ill purchase a sound card at a later date soon.

PC360. If you plan to buy a sound card at a later date, then buying the PC363D is rather pointless, as you are paying £60 for a USB device that will become redundant. Unless of course you have money to throw around. Using PC360 with onboard audio is fine if you plan to buy a decent sound card at some point. It's really only a waste for those who are just going to use the 360 with onboard audio and not bother with a sound card at all.

Thats what I was thinking, I'll get better sound using the 360's with a decent card won't I, than just using the 363D's by themselves?
