UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7 March *** Spoilers ***

Unlucky Utd, very unlucky to have Nani sent off. Didnt think it was a red card myself, more a yellow but then looking at past incidents involving high boots etc...it seems to me that most refs will give a red card for that. RVP i remember many yrs ago getting sent off for a similar tackle in a CL game.

What made me laugh the most was Mourinho's comments that the best team lost??...so here i was thinking...hold on did Real lose or go through??...Mourinho at his best with his mind games:p. Personally i dont think Utd deserved to go through as Real dominated for most of the game and the icing on the cake was Ronaldo finishing off Utd once and for all.

The other game was pretty boring ie Dortmund absolutely smashed Shaktar to pieces, scoring 3 goals.

Expect Celtic to lose tonight, cant see them overcoming a 3-0 deficit.

By this time next week, there wont be any British teams left in the CL.

Still have my money on Bayern to win it this yr, i cant see Barca getting past AC and not letting them score.

I know we get that sort of crap when we complain about decisions but no point acting in the same manner considering how retarded it is when people do it to us.

Interesting to see some who dish out certain things did not handle it well last night in return

There are plenty of people who post properly - even if I don't like what they say.

Then there are others who continuously pop up with woeful, bitter one-liners.

If everyone posted the way certain people do, this forum would be pretty much pointless.

Just lining himself up for the United job or trying to do his good guy routine, mind games is such a silly thing in football

That's the crux of it. RVP has been off form, gigs had a chance to score but unfathomably tried to take the keeper on.

Welbeck could have had 3 goals over the two legs had he not been a lesser talented striker.

this is the most obvious point which has been overshadowed by the red card. united had their chances to win the game and didn't take them. even with 10 men they had chances but fluffed their lines when it came to scoring by either missing the target or not being good enough to beat the keeper.

rvp was horrendous over the two legs, I mean he had a fair few chances last night, the hard ones he got on target but straight at the keeper but that one in the Bernebau was seriously bad.

The only way Real dominated the game at OT was they were camping in United's half, United looked 10x more likely to score.

De Gea kept them in it first leg though

I am neutral as I support neither Man U or Madrid.

From the perspective of wanting to watch an entertaining match I would say the red card kind of killed it, although Man U showed good spirit and fighting determination.

Was Nani's challenge dangerous/reckless - Yes
Should he have been booked - Yes
Should he have been sent off - Not unless the ref thought it was going in high with the intention of causing Arbeloa a mischief.

From my perspective I'd say Nani did not go in with the intnetion of hurting someone, in fact it was likely from the cameras that he didn't know exactly where arbleoa was in relation to him as he went up.

At worst he should have been cited or a reckless challenge. Reckles in the fact that it wasn't paying attention to what was going on aroudn him.

I would hazard a guess that if this red card was the other way and a Madrid player saw red for exactly the same offence. most of us woul dlaready be saying it was the right desicion. Its hard for fans to remain impartial in such situations.

mind games is such a silly thing in football

not really

it has won Jose the champions league twice and it won Ferguson the league when Keegan's side was well ahead before Christmas (after his famous if we beat them I'll love it rant on Sky)

Mind games are a massive part of almost every competitive team sport.

Personally i want to see him at City, taunting Fergie:p...i think that would be pretty awesome lol.

But yes i found his comments last night a tad bit strange, i suppose he was trying to be gracious in defeat but it came across as being a bit silly really.

Seriously, I must have been watching a different game to these people.

You must have been;)...your only goal of the game came from Ramos, who seems to like scoring own goals these days:p

The only thing the red card killed was United's tactics(although so did their goal) and the momentum, after that the game was exciting as Madrid might actually achieve something other than scoring own goals, game was a snorefest and United cruising through before.

How exactly did it help Jose? The Barca Inter game? The one where Inter were far better and Barca once again struggled to break down an organized side?

Also I'd agree mind games maybe in a head to head match, but then again I'd also just call that tactics.

I found it laughable, as though he already knows he has the job. Normally he would have agreed with the sending off and given a lecture on why they were the better side.

Not this time, he practically bent over.

United would be mad to take him despite how good I think he is. He's short term. He would threaten to leave and give out indications he wasn't happy every 5 games. Ruining the stability and harmony of the side.

And that goal came from United looking much more dangerous going forward and putting pressure on Madrid. It's not like Ramos picked up the ball, strolled back to his own goal and tapped it in. I can't remember Madrid having any real chances to test the keeper, whereas United had several, up until the sending off.

I remember Madrid having chances, they cocked them up every time they split the defence, they got behind it loads in the start of the first half. Also had a goal wrongly disallowed. (United still looked more threatening on the counter though)
