They moan about the new mummt tax

Statutory maternity and sick pay is a hallmark of a civilized nation.

Do we again, like the 80's, want to become the outcast of Europe, again, in terms of workers rights?

The Tories wanting to rip up our human rights is one of the biggest threats we face.

yet at the same time as taking away from the poorest families and children Cameron gives a tax cut worth thousands to the richest

plus your post is a basic link and run with a touch of BS

For me the best bit is:

Single mum-to-be Helen Mockridge has one clear suggestion for a better way to reduce the deficit.
"Taxing really rich people, obviously, that's where the money should come from," she said.

Obviously, the rich should pay for you to have a child...

I'm going to sit on the fence on this one as it doesn't affect me but really? Comments like that don't help their cause...

It's like David Cameron and George Osborne have a blindspot about women because they're paying three times more than men in tax and benefit and pay and pension changes.

"That is so unfair when women earn less and own less than men.

Huh?

Could this not be turned on its head then? If women are supposedly paying 3 times as much in pay/benefit/pension changes, are they not getting quite a bit more to begin with in various other ways e.g. current lower pension age, upto 52 weeks maternity leave which men do not get?

My reasoning is that ALL benefits are supposedly being capped at 1% ergo, to be "paying 3 times as much" then you are supposedly getting quite a bit more to begin with in benefits etc. Someone can correct me if I am incorrect or my reasoning is flawed here please.

For clarification, I have no problem with the maternity pay example I mentioned above. My issue is this "idea" that is always stated and accepted that women are always hard done by in comparison to men. I mean just look at the last statement in that quoted bit. Women earn and own less than men? WTF?

HerpDerp will have a field day with my post. No doubt call me a misogynist or some such nonsense... Failing that I will be a rape apologist

I love these debates. Brings all the idiots out of the woodwork. The people that claim its their right to "see their children grow up" and that everyone should pay for them to sit at home. The stupid notion that the sins of the father don't repeat on the son is just idiotic in this day and age. You have rubbish parents that don't work then you are already at a massive disadvantage. Giving your parents more money won't change that one bit.

Being a good parent is not about money. If you care so much about your children, you wouldn't be on tv whinging that you haven't enough money to feed them, you would be looking for work or learning how to cook cheaply. Instead, we have a culture that says, do whatever you like and we will make sure that your actions don't affect your children.

Why, I disagree women have more rights then men in this country, you can see it everywhere you go. Men are entitled to less, and women more, women can't have everything.

Quote of the year material. Agree 100% with you.

I chuckled when I heard that first women say she would like to work but can't get childcare. Look at her, you can just tell she has been a scrounger her entire life.

Can someone explain to me what she means by this?

Women do not pay 3x as much tax.
How can they pay benefit?
Women are paying more than men in pay.... What?
Pension changes I know nothing of.

I know she's trying to say something but I'm just not following her.

Scroungers wanting taxpayers to pay for their kids instead of exercising financial responsibility, this sense of entitlement is all too common in today's society.

Once again, it is not a tax. The sheer intellectual dishonesty of the left seems to be constantly increasing at the moment.

Cutting benefits, or not increasing benefits, is in no way whatsoever a tax.

I think she is saying that, if you couple all the changes in the tax, pay, benefits and pensions together, the changes are resulting in women being penalised more than men are.

AFAIK, the changes that are being made mean that women are now on a level footing with pensions and benefits to men e.g. the equalising of the pension age etc ergo, for one group to lose 3x the value compared to another group = you had a better deal to begin with.

Anyway, I am not sure why it's called the "Mummy Tax". If its a reduction in the increase of child benefits, surely it's more like a "Child Tax" given the child benefit is for the kids. Child benefit is not the exclusive right of women. Plenty of men look after kids as well

The OP had the most valid point. If you cannot afford to look after your children don't ******* have them! It's not the states job to provide for your child, you should provide for your child!

Me and my wife really want a second child, we would love too! However at the moment our house isn't big enough for us and two children and we have a debt to clear. So we had a real shocking thought, this is really out there do brace yourselves... We will wait until we are financially able to provide for ourselves, our current child and new child before having one!!! BOOOOMMM!!

******* outrageous I know but I think we could really be on to something, we will take some self responsibility and not blame the state for all our problems  **** me I feel like a true rebel!!
