690 or Titan?

Well cost isnt really any issue as my father is buying the card for me as a birthday present and he basically just wants me to link him to what card i want! I was only concerned about titan being 100 more as i thought it meant 690 was inferior. I have literally had nvidia for the last 10 years and had no problems so i guess i was just sticking to what has worked before, seems to be a lot of different opinions as to which card is best? (7950/7970's thrown into mix too)

IMO if you are considering a GTX690 you should also consider a pair of factory OC'd GTX670s, you'll save nearly £150, and get very similar performance.

^^ this
It's only good for the consumer to have AMD and nVidia battling it out. Faster product cycles and more grunt for less money. Bring it on.

Don't entirely agree with that when Nvidia are charging 900 quid for a gpu.

Everyone agrees Titan is much more than its worth. But so is a pagani zonda.

Until something much cheaper can match it on performance (without having to use two) it is what it is, an elite item with an elite price tag.

Maybe your father would like that £150 to take your mum out for a nice meal? Nah sod him, sod your mum too, let them blow it all on a GPU for their spoilt kid. Hope you can sleep at night...

:D Only joking - enjoy the new card my friend! Let the good times roll!

Whats wrong with humbug? Because he likes AMD?

Everyone would get a Titan if price was no issue, thats common sense really :\

But as people have said 1 Titan is not as fast a 690, 690 has low Vram, 8970 is 6 months away maybe?

The best option is 7950 Xfire and then sell up when the new cards come in, its actually fail safe at the price these are selling for especially with the free games!

I mean you could easy sell a 7950 for £150ish in 6 months and then buy the top end Nvidia card or AMD card or 2 which will probs be £400+ each.

Selling 4 games for £15 each is 60 quid so that brings it to £340 for 2 cards which will sell for £300+ you lose very little. EDIT Just checked they are selling for £40 a pair sometimes.

The games sell like hotcakes everywhere atm, i see people selling them within 30 mins of sticking them on some forums! Also to note people who said the Nvidia £100 bundle is good and would sell for £60ish, like ACE who is now Suarez7 i believe? (if not my bad) They sell for £2.50-£5 each lol and most are not even selling :\.

You then have £300+£600+ instead of buying the Titan. I bet a 8970 or 780 is not far off a Titan.

Now selling a Titan you will lose a lot more, people who can afford one will have got a new one imo, people who cant will be waiting for the new cards to come in, even at £700 for a second hand Titan is only £100 off 2x the newest top cards, so really is still not worth it. £600 maybe and thats £300 quid loss on the Titan for 6 months use!

PS! you actually get farcry 3, hitman and sleeping dogs when you buy 2x also so thats another £25.
