690 or Titan?

Tbh I think the 8970 has a good chance of at least being on par with Titan.

Possibly but I got my copy of PCFormat today and that was a statement in there when they were talking about Titans. They are pretty good at most things but of course, nothing to back it up.

I am confident that nothing will touch a Titan for 2 years (single core cards that is), so I would say go for a Titan. If in this time period games become sluggish, you can always add another.

I really doubt this will be the case by next year the titan will be old news imo, i think the next release will be very close.

I wouldn't be 100% confident in saying that tbh.

I see AMD will be more interested in getting the PS4's/Xpox's sorted and will release a refresh of the 7 series only. Nvidia will also be releasing a refresh of the 6 series and neither of these will be faster than Titans. This is the 2 years covered.

Tbh I hope you're right, means my 7970's hold their value for a bit longer.

I dont agree with this.

I think the refresh will be closer to the titan then you think and next year i think it will go past the titan.

2 years time noway.

I still think it will be a nice card in 2 years but not the top dog.

Lets just say I was happy to pay what I paid ;)

Haha im glad you did, i always haggle, most brits just pay the price tag and thats why the countrys a total rip off :\

I went into Comet before it fully closed down, it said outside massive sales blabla, i went in to look at a 42" tv for my bedroom, it cost more then everywhere else and next door was a currys which sold it cheaper too! Nowonder the idiots went bust :\ its like HMV now they are right near other game stores and sell games for £40-£50 a pop how do they expect to sell anything?

9/10 if your paying big money they will always agree to a discount, when i got my TV i got a stand with it and asked if theres anything else they can give me and they give me a dvd player too lol, shy kids get nothing ;)

People hoping for stagnation? Well I'll be.. We've already got that going 1 year and 3 months since 28nm's launch.
48XX to 5870 took about 1 year and 3 months.
58XX to 69XX took around a year and 3 months.
69XX to 79XX took about the same a year and a month/2.

We are at a 14 months already and not sure what AMD plans are, as the statement released was very vague. It said Q4 if I am not mistaken for the next AMD cards, so if we say another 7 months and then another 17 months for the next release, I have a good chance of being correct :)

But I'm not sure why people would hope for that situation? Sounds like an awful situation.

Going AMD was always the right choice. Even after all this time it still is. Amazing.

Yup im glad i didnt swap for the 680 now, im really happy with my card :)

The reason they are so slow is because most game at 1080p and the 7970 and 680 pretty much max the latest games at this.

Crysis has always been a hog, i dunno what happend to farcry 3? its not even all that good a game but is a total leech on cards atm! Still no pixel fix either :\

Only thing we need right now is better CPU support for games theres loads games ruined because they are capped by the CPU!

With the new consoles going pc parts its gonna be really good for pc gamers in the future, shame THQ went bust though :\ also prices are rising on new games, well mostly EA ones :D

I always come onto this forum thinking it's an enthusiast forum and then people moaning about the fact the very top end part are so expensive!

Isn't the top end of everything usually expensive?
