I wouldnt of been happy with that personally, model shop should have giving you a replacement new box or a refund and gave you the option for them to order a new box kit..and buying second hand models? never heard that one before.

I agree. I wouldn't have minded if A) it had been mentioned etc and B) was a price reflecting that, rather than what seems to be standard RRP.

Oh well. one of those things. I could take it back for a refund. But would still end up costing me money in fuel.

Would anyone be interested in making up this model for me?

It's a new Polar Lights kit of Robby robot and altaira complete with base. I did the previous model they did and made a reasonable job of it but i'd prefer someone with superior modelling skills to make a top job of it including the weathering etc.

I'd obviously be willing to pay a reasonable amount for time spent and paint and glue etc.

I bought a fujimi fw16c model at a car boot for £3!
Not made a kit since I was very young. So got a few bits together to have a crack at doing it properly
Just not sure how to go about painting it. I have some brushes but not sure what paint to use or when to paint each part!

Pieman are you using an airgun to paint these?

They look very, very good.

I've not built a model for nearly 20 years (even then i never painted them) but want to get back into it as I think it will be nice for the winter nights.

I've got a few on my list I'd like to make a Spit IX, FW190, LA7, BF109 E4.

There are loads out there, the recent Star Wars models spring to mind. But they all look very toy like when complete and would at least need some weather/dry brushing to make them look passable

If you get good at the hobby you could build and paint warhammer stuff then sell it as pro painted make some cash as you enjoy yourself modeling.

Beautiful!! Can I ask, difficult to tell but what scale is that? I've decided that I am going to (try) and get back into the hobby providing my 2 year old will let me. But I will only work on larger scale stuff, 1:32/1:24 etc. I much prefer them. I've got 3 1:24 Airfix kits in the stash at present, the Ju87B and two Spits. I quite fancy getting some aftermarket stuff for them if it exists, so that I can concentrate on the detailing.

I would barely have the time to put one of these together, let alone paint it well. Are pre-painted ones expensive?

Its 1/48 scale mate I'm currently having a go at the 1/48 Kittyhawk Jaguar gr.1/gr.3. Nice kit but the fit of the parts is average and requires a fair bit of filler and rubbing then re-scribing, should come out nice but I'm undecided as to which marking to do it in.

Edit: Heres a coupla pics of a Bf-109K-4, 1/48 scale hasegawa done in a similar way to the FW190D-9

I added the rivet lines on this model as well as the previous FW190D using a homemade rivetting tool, quite pleased how well they turned out

Yes mate, I use a Harder and Stienbeck jobbie with a 0.2mm needle and nozzle. I also use Gunze Sangyo (now called Mr color) acrylic paint

Thats a well nice kit mate, I'm in the process of building that same one for me Brother in law who flew them in the very early 60s from Tengah in the Far East. the only problem I came across when building mine was the engine intake cowls needed a fair bit of rubbing down, other than that, very easy kit to build. Big too.
