Maybe it's a good idea for a thread maybe not...

There are plenty of great games out there that people may not have heard of and here's where we can share :)

If you're recommending a game bold it and yellow it as below, makes it easier to pick out games from general chit chat, I'll go first:

Omegalodon - A great little game where you can play as the Omegalodon, try to kill him or try and help him. Great graphic style and lots of vehicles.

:)

Bombjack (MAME Emulator required)

1984 arcade classic with ultra fluid arcade reflex testing gameplay that few games, modern or old, could ever hope to match.

[Yellow Bold Lettering] Xonotic [/Yellow Bold Lettering]

www.xonotic.org

its a open source twitch based fps with pretty tasty graphics. variety of modes similar to unreal tournament, tight deathmatch arenas to huge sprawling maps with vehicles.

Europa Universalis III - EU3 Forums

Control your nation from 1399 until the end of the Napoleonic era. More than just a world conquering game, you might get as much pleasure from recreating the Irish nation and repelling the English forces as you would from taking over Europe as the French.

For extra enjoyment start your game in Crusader Kings 2, play from 1066 to 1400, convert your save game to EU3, play from 1400 to 1820 then convert your save game to Victoria 2 and play from 1820 to 1900!

Stronghold Crusader

Great RTS which has great gameplay, not sure how known it is, but most people only know of Stronghold 3 (The newest and biggest flop to the series). Crusader is the 'out of series' game and is so much better then the standard strongholds. Worth a play!

Quite cheap as well, snagged it for a couple of quid on steam not so long ago, can get a HD pack for it as well, make's it look ever prettier.

Divine Divinity & Beyond Divinity

RPG style game, click and control kinder of game.

Sorry for the seperate post, but completely different genre's. FANTASTIC game from a few years ago, great storyline and style of playing! Definitely worth playing and is not that expensive. Divine is the first of the series, then Beyond and then the newest Divinty 2? Must play games.

Probably not that lesser known these days, but:

Faster Than Light - http://www.ftlgame.com/
Realtime Rogue-like spaceship simulation.

And also a definitely lesser known game:
Ancient Domains of Mystery - http://www.adom.de/
Classic ASCII based Roguelike - if you can see beyond the ASCII, then a brilliant and deep adventuring experience
