Anybody else a fan of this band?

By far my favourite band ever, and easily the best live act I've witnessed (and I've witnessed a LOT).

Absolutely love them, one of the best bands I've seen live (their live albums are so good I struggle to listen to their studio albums!)

Saw Steven Wilson's 'solo' band live twice as well (once last week) and they're amazing too.

Not really heard a lot of Steve Wilson's solo material, will have to check it out. I do love Blackfield though.

I've only had the pleasure of seeing PT once, in October 2009 (I think) at the Apollo in London during The Incident tour.

Outstanding.

Huge fan. Incredible band.

What's your favourite album? Mine is FOABP.

FOABP was actually the album the album that got me into them (I was quite late to the PT party).

It is probably my favourite album too, Anesthetize is one of the greatest musical achievements ever. 17 minutes of pure joy. I never grow tired of hearing it.

It's more proggy than Porcupine Tree but still brilliant.

I was at that gig too :)

My favourite album is probably Lightbulb Sun but it changes quite a lot! Best live album is Warszawa.

FOABP got me into them as well but it's not my favourite album (Although Anaesthetize is amazing)

If I had to rank them now it would be:

Lightbulb Sun
Deadwing
Stupid Dream
Signify
In Absentia
The Incident
FOABP

All good though.

I haven't really listened to the albums before Signify

Amazing gig, wasn't it? :)

My favourite album is subject to change at any time. So much amazing material, it's hard to just choose one album as being the best.

I love Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson is a very talented guy, his solo stuff is great too although some of it is not as accessible in my opinion. Blackfield are great too, slightly different feel to their tracks.

I enjoy a bit of Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson now and again too :)

The first PT album I listened to was In Absentia. Excellent album, but the album which is by far my favourite is Signify. I love it.

Not a big fan of Deadwing, rarely listen to it. The album's got a track which has Mikael Akerfeldt on it, and it's the only thing involving him that I really don't like. :(

Amazing band, and S Wllson is a truly gifted song writer. I love his solo work too, and you should definitely check out the first 2 Blackfield albums.
Also, Flowermouth by No-Man is a classic too.

I own all their albums, with The Sky Moves Sideways on vinyl. (Stars Die is sublime)

If I had to pick 3 favourites they would be

FOABP
In Absentia
Lightbulb Sun

Fear Of A Blank Planet is an absolute masterpiece and I swear every time I listen to it I hear something new.
I went to see them at Rock City on the FOABP tour and the sound was stunning. I love how R Barbieri really gets to shine on this album.

Some of my favourite tracks include...

anesthesise
Russia on ice
Arriving somewhere but not here
Collapse the light into earth

Overrated Pink Floyd rip off. Boring. Poor vocals (apart from when harmonised). Bleak, dreary, depressing, the riffs suck, the songs last way too long. Too much mid under the guise of 'texture'.

I have been a long term Porcupine Tree fan, Steven Wilson is an absolute legend.

I had the pleasure of being at the Deadwing press gig in Nottingham a number of years ago. Only around 200 people there, in a small venue called the Rescue Rooms - when they played Arriving Somewhere But Not Here in its full 12min glory there was not one journo or fan without their eyes closed! A real ultimate gig moment for me :)

Did they all fall asleep?

Or were they pretending to have a good time?
