Audi owners in here!

Looks like ill be booking mine in for some warranty diagnosis/repair tomorrow. Driving home tonight and the car threw up the error "ignition lock defective" on the DIS. Key felt loose in the hole too, fortunately it still drives as normal (bar the annoying error on the display).

Is there a date when the new s3 is out?

Don't know, but it's on their website. So can't be far off.

More importantly.. Audi RS7 Sportback incoming!
Yum!

At the heart of the Audi RS 7 Sportback sits the impressive 4.0 litre V8 TFSI biturbo engine delivering 560PS.

The combination of TFSI petrol direct injection technology and turbocharging gives the RS 7 Sportback the blistering responsiveness required of a performance car.

Also has the ability to switch between 8 and 4 cylinders.

My A4 has been doing that a while too - Audi could not find any log record of it happening on the car although happens at least once a week and even happens with a new key. Meant to be very sensitive to any much or lint getting in the grooves on the fob if its the smart key so have cleaned it out a few times and does seem to help. Also not having much weight such as key rings pulling down on the fob seems to help.

Doesn't appear to be key related as it will do it with both keys and the "valet" key holder. I never have anything dangling from my car keys, as such there is only an Audi keyring on each key (and nothing on the valet fob). According to a brief googling this morning, it's a known problem, of which there has been an Audi TPI for it across the dealer network. By the looks of it, it's an ignition out job, and swapped for a new unit.

So it looks like I have classic coil pack symptoms on my TT. It feels and sounds like its running on three cylinders, very lumpy under throttle and struggles, funny smell which I'm guessing is fuel in the cat? Plugs were done 11 months ago so unlikely to be that. What else could be the issue? Is it possible to diagnose without VAGCOM? Will my engine code still be BAM even though its 240ps version?

It must have known I'd put it up for sale and thrown a strop :p

I've got an odd problem with my old A3; for some reason, if the window is down and you hold the button down to roll it back up, it'll get about a third of the way down and then roll back up again. Any suggestions as to what I can do to resolve this?

I think that's the window clips or motor? It's a take the door apart job, basically. The clips are pennies if it's that and the motor... is a bit more.

Mine started doing it but seems to have resolved itself :o

It is almost certainly the coil pack.

Well been through an MOT, then a slightly overpriced front & rear brake pad/disc replacement. Now the TT is 300 miles off her major service interval. :(

Still, I've got the car bug back for the time being, so spending stupid money isn't making me as ill as it normally would. :D

If it's the coil pack (mine had the emissions light come on when no. 4 packed up), pay a visit to your local Audi dealers. They replaced mine (on a 04 TT) free of charge, last year. Sure, they'll try and find something else wrong with your car while it's there, but just smile and run out of the door having had free work done to your car.

Internet diagnostic agrees.

I have been reading up on the recall over on ttforum and fingers crossed mine is covered. I'll speak to Audi tomorrow, thanks for the heads up.

It's the lock that stops the fob coming out of the dashboard when the ignition is on. There is no "key" as such, so there is nothing to turn.

How you getting on with the A8 Reno? Has it thrown up any big bills?

A4 is due cambelt change soon, £500 quid bill...so far in the 9 or 10 months I have had the car it has cost £1300 on servicing and repairs...not so bad!

On another note me and the missus went looking around a few car garages this weekend - BMW, Audi & Land Rover. All offering fantastic service however I think the car to replace the Fiat 500 will be a Q3 or a Q5 if missus can get on with the slightly larger car.

I'm absolutely loving it! I gotta be careful though, you can so easily be doing 40 in a 30 zone without realizing, it's so smooth, effortless and your barely touching the throttle at that speed. Might have to switch the Speed Warning on, lol.

With the factory privacy rear glass and the electric blinds the little one falls asleep in the back in no time! :D

The only bill I've had (bar fuel :D ) is the service but even that wasn't as expensive as I expected, I took it to the Audi Specialist that looked after my old quattro... Full long life service and new front anti roll bar came in at a bit under £700.

Any particular reason your getting rid of the Quattro sport olv?

I simply don't use it enough. It's frivolous to keep it and I don't have private/underground parking so I get stressed out. I also have to travel a billion miles to get to anything resembling a fun road which means I never really get to enjoy it properly. A shame but that's the way it goes. The qS market seems to move slowly so I don't expect it will be going anywhere in a hurry.
